Do I seem like I'm joking?
...........
It's hard to tell, I mean, where's the proof we even made a move for him?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Google doesn't lie.
Woah, out come the personal insults, calm down chap.
You stated he turned down United, I've never heard this, and wanted some evidence, no need to get so angry, it's just an internet forum.
http://ja606.co.uk/articles/viewArticle/46239
I got a machine that transfers vhs to dvd if anyone interested? Relive those 80's glory years
never mind Young being better than Downing (which is obvious), does anyone actually think that 20m Henderson is as good as Cleverley ?
Downing, Adam, Henderson wouldn't be able to 'get into' any of the 'top 6' starting 11s. That is probabaly why they are not rated so highly.
I do not think anyone still thinks Young is not better than Downing... not say Downing is rubbish he is a good player but Young is better. Downing was one of Liverpools better buys if you ask me...
Now Henderson turning down United is clearly not true... it is not like we would have got the chance to talk to him with a £20 Million pound price tag on his head...
No, the point is, any player any good at Liverpool these days ends up leaving to better clubs. (Barring death threats etc)
No one doubted the quality of Alonso, Mascherano, Torres, but all were too good for you, so ended up leaving

Did anyone actually read the article?
Or did they only read the headline?
I did a google search but could not find any news article about him snubbing us. There is no mention of United making a bid or an approach for Henderson. Only that United were watching him.
Next time, read the article and the date of the article.

We got the best years out of both Alonso and Torres and sold them for more than 2 times what we paid for them
Alonso I still would have liked to have but I'm glad the other 2 left. I wouldn't have wanted them to start issuing ultimatums for the doubling of their salaries etc. and holding the club to ransom like some other players do
Of course we didn't go for Henderson, desperation from the OP.
The problem these days is people read the HEADLINE but not the actual article. If anyone actually read it, nowhere does it mention United made a bid or an approach for him.
Anyway, my own thoughts were Aquilani, shame about the injury, I would have though he would have been given time considering that. I don't know how well he would have done but when you bought him (barring the injury) I did think he would be your Alonso replacement.
Alonso wasn't a player I rated much, but after he left it really showed that he was a vital part of the first 11 at Liverpool. I guess quite a few underated him (though he was better than Barry, no idea why Rafa wanted him).
Masch (from what I've seen) is great at what he does, which is a destroyer. When you have him, Alonso and Gerrard, that was a strong centre. But personally, I don't rate him that highly.
I liked the look of Merieles. But I don't think he was used properly at Liverpool. Personally, I prefer him over Adam.
Adam is someone I did not and still do not rate highly. I think he is someone who is a mid-table team player and not someone Liverpool should be signing (unless bought as a squad/back-up player).
Henderson, I can't really comment on. I've not seen enough of him at Liverpool or Sunderland.
Downing. is a player when he first broke into the M'boro team, I thought United should buy him. But after seeing him there and at Villa I do not rate him that much. I do think he is a decent winger and will do a job for you. But I much prefer Young than him.
And just to point out, I did not rate Young much either. I did think he was better than Downing but not by much. He has proven me wrong and the players you have bought may over time.
These are just my opinion. We can be right or wrong. Time always tells in these sorta things.

I've seen Merieles play on the right quite a few time (I assume this was under Roy though).
From what I have read about Merieles, he has never really been considered a DM or an AM. I could be wrong though.

lets be fair here...lets be realy honest....the reason these players left liverpool (oh yes,a good team once) is that they have become a run of the mill mid table club.fakt.
they are trying to re invent themselves by bringing back kk.
i,m sorry but it wont work.
once things dont go his way he will run, believe me.
the reason torres etc left is that they dont(didnt) want to play inferior football at an inferior club
When the ball hits the net, of his foot then his head, it's Hernandezzz
Genius name - mistakes in a post are one thing, but in your name is just amazing!
Roy,unbelievably, used him on the left at times
===================================
Which games?
Roy did play him right but it was your Queen who played him on the left.
Aquilani....cannot believe you are trying to make a case for this £20m flop. He maybe showing good form in Italy but that league is totally different, they play at walking pace.
Merieles....was and is a very decent player. Your best form came with him in the team, no Gerrard & no Carroll. I remember when Spurs beat you at Anfield, most LFC fans blamed the lack of Merieles and the inclusion of Carroll instead of having Suarez & Kyut in tandem...Kenny has continued to change what was a winning formula this season.
Downing...no league goals, no assists, no real stellar performances. Hardly set the place alight has he. Barely noticed him on the pitch vs Spurs, and for £20m too! Young cost less & has 2 league goals, 6 assists and has starred for England...cannot believe you are making a case for Downing over Young.
Adam cost £8m, you got your money's worth! He's half a Henderson, that about sums it up!
to be fair to Aquilani, he didn't get much of a chance for Liverpool did he?
Injured, then not played by Rafa, out on loan the next season and then sold.
Is he a flop? yes. But that is more due to injury & Rafa than anything else.
United, Team of Man
Thanks for the input - shame you're talking tosh!
I don't see a single thing wrong with what United , Team of Man said. He didn't get a fair crack of the whip, and as soon as he did this season he showed some form and skill and was promptly shipped out.
