I think he's a squad player at best but if we succeed in offloading Casemiro, we probably need two midfielders, and Amrabat is quite good value for money at the specified price.
Depends on the length of contract.
The club has been offering 4 year contracts to these types of players for too long.
At that price I would keep him, but only if we bring in a top-notch defensive CM also. Both Amrabat and if he stays, Casemiro, can be options from the bench. Until recently Amrabat has looked ropey, I think he could be one that improves under new management.
Casemiro could actually be a good impact player from the bench, but if the right offer came in, we should let him go.

All depends on the economics, and whether we can recruit the player who is a physical and technical upgrade on both of them while also addressing other priority positions. But I suspect we won't be in a position to keep both *and* bring in another.
Not sure if he should stay but he’s been massively underused by ETH this season given Casemiro’s awful form and even worse when Casemiro has been injured, ETH has used McTominay or Eriksen beside Mainoo in a midfield 2.
I genuinely think if Casemiro was fit yesterday he’d have played and the game would have been far more of a struggle.
If Amrabat is that cheap we could do far worse than take him as a squad player.
Casemiro and Eriksen should go.

If it came to getting rid of one and replacing accordingly, then it would have to be Casemiro that goes. If we get someone like Palhinha / Onana / similar etc in, and then can also keep Amrabat for relatively cheap fee, I guess that is the best scenario.
He’d be a squad player at best and I think his strengths work best when we’re the underdogs and need to sit deep and soak up attacks. In games where we are predominantly attacking he becomes far less important. All depends what we want to do with our money this summer as a CB, CM who can control better and a RW are more important.
It's no surprise he's looked better in recent games and he's not the only one. He's had less space to cover defensively and more players closer to him making it easier to pass and receive.
It depends what our plans are for midfield in the summer but I wouldn't mind keeping him.

Surprised it took ETH so long to realise the Kamikaze midfield approach simply didn’t work.
This discussion is interesting. Probably the best defensive midfielder we've had in years. He was always a short term solution who was unused by ETH. Now he's still the short term solution who, until someone who proven comes along, we still need.
The use of Eriksen instead of Amrabat is the reason why he should be sacked by the way. 7-10 difference (let alone the goal difference) was given away because he hadn't played enough to settle.

As well known I’m not Casemiro’s biggest fan but last season October to March Casemiro is the best DM we’ve had in years, not Amrabat.

I think it is the open midfield / poor protection of defence / giving away so many chances aspect, which pretty much happened in 75% plus games that everyone questions and is a massive factor in ETH's abilities and whether he should stay.
As great as yesterday was, why haven't we addressed that all season?
Amrabat was better yesterday but seems a little slow and his passing not great overall. Much preferred Fred.
If it’s £12.5m then I’d not against retaining him on a short deal and also brining in a player earmarked to start in that position as well. It’s also not inconceivable that playing in a more compact and disciplined system would see Casemiro return to form given his skill set is defending tight spaces and engaging at close quarters. I will say Casemiro’s sudden bout of injury issues this season are a concern though.
We should definitely keep him. If Casemiro goes we will need two DMs. He would be an excellent squad option, especially at that price. He's 28 shortly after the season starts so still has at least two good years in him. I don't see a downside.
Just for clarity, the buy option is £21.4m. I think that's on top of his loan fee (£8.5m), not including it.
