The morning after…

I don’t feel that same disappointment either. I’m 30 and my life of supporting Leeds has been 2 relegations, 4 failed playoff campaigns, 2 automatic promotion flops, 2 collapses to miss out on the playoffs, and then only 3 seasons of success - 2 of which were behind closed doors.

Different teams, different managers, years apart, but Leeds just do not turn up when it matters and collapse. The only way for us to get promoted is to have a comfortable gap for the run in, like 2020.

I’m confident about next year. The teams coming down don’t seem in a great position to bounce straight back and 2 of the biggest threats this year have gone straight up. Happy to have a break from this club for a few months, not sure I can even find the energy to care about the Euros either, this sport is terrible really isn’t it?

Congratulations to The Saints.

I would think most Leeds supporters would feel the same feeling of resignation when it comes to the play offs. Hangover from hell doesn't help either but congratulations to Southampton and their manager who actually had a tactical plan on how to beat the opposition..

Will wait to see what the squad looks like on the opening day of next season before the optimism or that sinking feeling kicks in.

Same, not absolutely gutted as I have been in the past.

I think if you can sum up one reason why we failed yesterday, it's experience.

Some of the players such as Summerville, Rutter, Gray and Gnonto are incredibly young and lack the experience of these big occasions.

Others like Ampadu, Rodon, Gruev are older but again lacks the experience of these big occasions and how to win them.

Is that Farke's fault?

I hope we can get that blend right for this year but a lot of challenges that are out of Frake's hands.

Farke handled Gnonto situation incredibly well, he might well have more ahead, I for one trust Farke to take us forwards.

Same boat, was 34 the day before the final, which is better than the 2008 final v Doncaster which was my 18th 🙄

Looking forward to the euros, enjoy those.

Accustomed to defeat as a Leeds fan, conditioned for it. Looking forward to a break before talking about signings and the season ahead.

You’ll go up as champions without a doubt, you’ll be by far the best team in the league next season with Leicester and Saints going up and absolute dross coming back down.

It’ll probably be a much more fun season tbh.

Farke probs the right guy to get us up. Not in love with style of play tho. If Southampton can nullify us 3 times in one season then the rest of the prem would have had a field day!
Thought we may have started with 3 in midfield yesterday to make us more solid but the manager knows a lot more than me. Think Roberts must have a problem because before his injury was looking really dangerous whenever he got forward.

Keep Rodon. Finally lose Firpo and Bamford.
LB RB CH CF Playmaker in should get us across the line. Wouldn't be too upset if a new manager came in but I think Farke deserves a complete Campaign to show us what he can do.

Struijk back next season. Huge miss for us after his injury and effectively had to change midfield to accommodate Ampadu at back.

For me Farke has until end of October. If we’re not flying in this league or if there are any similarities to this seasons drawbacks (struggle against low block, get beat by relegation battlers) I think he’s out.

we just lacked that spark up front, hindsight should've brought joseph & anthony on much earlier

regarding struijk, for me was not that much of a miss, up until that f3cking international break, we were had 1 of the best defences in europe

We are a championship club and probs for the best we missed out. If we can get 5-6 quality signings in then promotion next year with a squad that can hold its own in the prem without a total rebuild

Same sentiment as me Lorimar and had same expectations which sadly played out as feared. We'll lose some of our better players, have reduced parachute payments and have the ongoing loanee situation (Victor's legacy) but as some others have said we'll still have soem budget to bring incoming players/loanees and maybe the opposition won't be as string as needing 90+ points.

I wonder if Farke has learned anything tactically from what went wrong in the run and yesterday. Not so sure about that with the 2 Norwich relegations and his interviews but we'll see how it goes.

Think you misunderstood what he meant, for the division we were in, without a doubt, one of the best defences in Europe. He's not saying man for man they were better than Real's or Bayern Munich's, but that we were conceding fewer goals than any other team in Europe.
God you aint half stupid.

Probably agree with that. A really good-quality squad that plays and stays together would have the best chance of staying up. The fly in the ointment is, can we attract Prem-quality players?

Just wondering if the team will be quite different come August.

Reasoning is the European lads may just think stuff to another 46(49) game season it's too gruelling and attritional.

Summerville - definitely gone
Gnonto - Will push very hard to leave, not least for Italy international reasons.
Rutter - Could see a team from Germany or Framce coming in for him. The rigours of the season and reliance on him has took it's toll, but as a squad player in the Bundesliga, I could see him being that mercurial spark that helps at that level - and only 34 games. Yes it will be at a loss but I can see clubs come calling. ( He's now got valuable experience in the toughest league in the world.)

Would like Roberts and Rodon to stay but parent clubs may decide on that - Rodon, do the finances allow for his purchase?

I don't agree.

At the moment we don't have a right back as such, we have next to no centre backs and we have one left back in Firpo.

We are ok in midfield but no creative midfielders hence the lack of goals from midfield this season.

It is rumoured we could lose Summerville, Gnonto, Rutter and Gray in the summer and possibly Meslier.

We don't really have any reliable strikers.

We have massive debts due to the Orta transfers.

On top of that we have the headache of what to do with the returning players Roca, Harrison, Aaronson, Kristianson and Wober and possibly Llorente.

A lot of work needs to be done in the summer, next year could be a struggle.

So not one of the best defences in Europe, but one of the best defences in the Championship. Gotcha

Dennis makes a point.

We are not starting on the front foot yet again. Before we can do anything, the loanee 'too good for EFL' brigade needs sorting out first. We can sell but not buy accordingly - Debts to be serviced in part by end of June?

Agreed, I didnt feel we missed him in that position, only problem was that we then didn’t have Ampadu in midfield.

Rodon shoukd be standard we’re looking at, not Struijk.
