Everton play a low block. If that's how United want to play then he is the right signing. No one has seen him in a high line.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why wouldn't he be able to play in a high line?

He is the only defender who Haaland dribbled past if that helps

In the 2-0 win over Liverpool, he managed to help Everton keep a clean sheet and Everton played them off the park! ooooh he also managed to score their first goal!

For 80m you wanna be sure that he can rather than guess. He most likely could and can be coached into it but you have seen many defenders looks amazing in a low block but really struggle when they leave space behind them.

Yeah, well I'm sure no ones "guessing". It's literally the job of a recruitment team to work out whether he has the attributes to play the way we want to.

For what it's worth I think his physical attributes and athelticism make him absolutely perfect for it. And I didn't watch PSV when he was there but I'm sure they weren't camped on the edge of their box every week.

One of the things that stands out watching him this season are his recovery tackles when sides got in behind Everton.

Tbf I recall Kash calling him 'slow' the other week so I'm not actually sure he's ever watched him.

If we did sign two CBs this Summer could we perhaps see Martinez nominally as a LB on occasion?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don’t think he has the legs to play LB.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't mean one that bombs up and down as such. More one that tucks into the centre and helps us stay compact.

He’s being quoted for £60m. Ridiculous. We deserve to get burnt if we pay that for him.

I wouldn’t say Kash hasn’t seen him play because he came to that conclusion. We all know by now Kash’s brain does function properly.

Depends how good the scouts believe he can become.

We paid a lot at the time for the likes of Rio, Rooney, Keane, Carrick, De Gea, Ronaldo.

If he has a ceiling as high as we need from a CB, and he's here for 10 years, nobody would bat an eyelid.

Look at Damian Rice, who is talking about his fee anymore?

I get that, but i think those players you mentioned had at least performed over a decent period of at least a couple of years.

I don’t think this kid has stood out like any of those did.

He’s also being linked with Spurs, City and Newcastle, so unless all of that is just smoke, it would seem unlikely that any low ball offer from United would be snapped up by Everton.

One good thing is that there seems to be an unusually high number of quality CBs available this summer, so if United can be smart and shop around a bit, there should be some opportunity to leverage that fact.

Everton’s financial situation is facked. I’d be surprised if they get as high as £60m because of this.

Had a survey from the club yesterday, asking much I spend on every match day by category. You can tell they want to maximise the money fans spend in and around the ground.

In fairness, the beer in the ground is cheap, but it's Carling and Doom Bar, it's always warm and the foods crap too.

To be fair, they did one over us last summer, selling Mount for £50m and spending it on Palmer for £40m.
