To be fair, the Dons were an absolutely cracking side back then. I went to quite a few of their Euro games at Pittodrie in those days when I was at Uni. Having said that, there’s no doubt the filthy wet weather in Gothenburg that night helped the Dons chances more than Madrid’s. They did also beat Bayern in the QF though, then the European Cup Winners Hamburg in the subsequent Super Cup. As I said, cracking side.
