It’s a good mix needed of players young and hungry ready to fulfil their potential at the club, and players in their peaks having their best years here.
We have been signing players past their best years, needing to give them huge salaries to convince them to join us as it was often a step down from their previous clubs.
One of the worst cliches in football is that you need players that have won it all before.
..................
Not something I have heard really. But you do need a fair few experienced players amongst the youngsters.

Maybe but we have a fair few experienced pmsysrs at all times. We should be adding young players to them rather than adding more older players. That’s what City, Liverpool and even pmsysrs have done so well in recent years.
We need young and old. No team succeeds with just buying younger ones.

We need to buy a combination of older winners with younger players with something to prove. The youth that came through in the 90s wouldn’t have been half as successful if they didn’t come into a side with top class older players like Cantona, Keane, Bruce, Irwin etc
We have no top class older players bar perhaps Bruno

We need a mix and which if you look at our signings for many years it has been, just that they’ve largely been sh-t. I think the key is to not buy sh-t players.

I think he is confused by commentators saying things like "that is what bringing players into the team like Casimero and Varane will bring to you"
Bellingham for eg is 20 years old and is already pretty well experienced.
"How many of Pep’s signings at City have been players who have won multiple major honours?"
Worth pointing out that Pep inherited a large bunch of seasoned, largely title-winning players approaching, in, or just past their prime.
The likes of Yaya, Kompany, David Silva, Otamendi, Fernando and Zabaleta were already there.
True that he did then sign a bunch of youngsters in his first few seasons, but also some in their mid-20s with plenty of top level experience, like Gundogan, Walker, Danilo, Mahrez, etc.

Many of those players had only won 2 titles in 6 odd seasons under Mancini and Pellegrini.
Yes and those players that you mentioned that he signed were all mid 20s and making a step upwards. Exactly the type we should be going for.
Quite ridiculous to say that any 20 year old is "well experienced" in my view.
We need a mix. One of the biggest problems is that we haven’t signed enough players in, or approaching, their prime. Too many are either past it or young players that are years away from it, and the latter often fail to develop.

Depends if you’re looking at his age or his actual experience.
He’s been playing football since he was 16, has played in three different countries, won a league, a CL and a cup, has over 200 appearances and plays for his country having been to a Euros final as well.

I guess we'll find out soon enough.
I think we should avoid signing players over 28 now for a bit unless it's on a free transfer.
João Paulinha is a good example. A very good player but at 29 and probably going to cost 50m it's too much. We don't want another Casemiro situation.
