The only solid links atm are to Calum O Hare of Coventry who id be pretty pleased with, classy player. The other is Oli Skipp who'd be very good at this level and should be better than Kamara and Gruev.

As for outgoings, hopefully they all clear off. Wober looked awful for Austria last night, won't want him if he plays like that for us.

Very quiet so far though

Do you prefer Ampadu in the middle or at the back?
I was hoping to see Ampadu and Gray together in midfield this season. If we are really ambitious and lucky they could play together for years and be a perfect nucleus to base the team around.

in all honesty (tho I know its obviously realistic) I'll be gutted about cry leaving...

him and a few others if given time we could build a whole team around them and push on,

I dont think Gray is quite good enough for CM yet, especially physicallity wise and for a 46 game campaign, I would prefer Ampadu in CM but Gray at RB.

Talking around 35-40m for Summerville which seems a decent fee.

Would rather see Gray in midfield. Think he has it in him to push on next season. Think we will sign another RB and another CM as well though. Talks of Gruev moving on.

We are bookies favourites to come up but if we lose Summerville we lose a significant goal threat. Clearly we will sign players and there will be money made available to replace him. Hope Aaronson comes back strong.

Thought O'Hare had turned down a contract extension at Coventry because the big boys were sniffing around and he angling for a move up to the Premier league.

West Ham and Celtic I've read are also interested.

He is at the Euros.

Looks like we're getting no money what so ever for Harrison for a second season running.

We need to make a major sale by the end of next week or else its a points deduction and transfer embargo, Summerville is a fair way off going so sadly that only leaves one other option.
Doesnt sound like Rodon will be coming any deals will be in the region of £3-4m,
Only plus maybe that once the sale has gone through no one else might have to leave.

Where are you getting this information from? I am hearing that the money from the Red Bull deal has meant we are not under any financial pressure to sell any players including Summerville and this means we can play hard ball as far as the Premier League teams are concerned so we are not having to sell players for a fraction of their market value.
I appreciate the fact that some people have their finger on the pulse on what's happening.

After many years on here and the Beeb before that,
I know two things about Don that I know are true:

1) If he says something like this, he has well placed
knowledge to back it up. In other words, it's true.

2) He runs faster than Alioski.

On a related note, several posters on here were
adamant that we (the club) were in no way running
foul of PSR/financial rules. And that everything was
just peachy. Obviously not.

Its Gruev now batts,
I dont think the club are skint far from it but you can have all the money in the world ie, Newcastle but there are rules which you need to stay within regarding profit/loss on transfer fees and it sounds like we need to get £40m in quickly which needs to be clear profit so we fouldnt say sell Gnonto and Rutter for £20m each as it would hardly make any profit, I dont agree with the rules as take Villa the owner has loads of cash, they are in the champions league and kept within the rules but are having to sell one of there best players to enable them to do business, I am told we have around £20m to spend which seems to rule out Rodon and the only name I've heard is Bogle from Sheff Utd,

posted on 22/6/24

Don, it sounds like we may well struggle to make 40m profit by the end of next week given the timescale involved. I guess Gruev at best would be 10 million profit if rumours about a return to Germany are true. We may struggle given the timeframe to sell 40 million of players for profit. Hope we avoid a transfer embargo but I guess we can still get frees in, but not always ideal. Fingers crossed that something happens in the next week

Seems like you're saying one of Summerville or
the crown jewel, Archie are the only way we can
avoid this. Both could possibly fetch 40 mill each.

Not convinced either one could though.

Look at Adam Wharton. 20 years old. Moves to
Palace for somewhere in the region of 20 mill.
At the Euros with England. Are either Cree or
Archie with twice Wharton? Nope.

Like you say Don, being minted means nothing
now when PSR is applied. I'd love to see a run
off with you, Alioski, and Gruev. Has to happen.

posted on 22/6/24

If it comes down to Summerville or gray id reluctantly say sell cree.
But also I can't see him going for anywhere near what he's worth to us. Liverpool probably aren't interested but Chelsea buy everyone so could see him go there and never be heard of again.

posted on 22/6/24

I'm not saying this is wrong, not by any stretch of the imagination, but I don't understand why this isn't big news, Gruev transfer to Germany is now being played down practically everywhere, people are saying Summerville will leave with Brighton the team leading the pack but as I said the Red Bull money gives us a stronger hand in the market and we will not be had for mugs like we were in the past.
On Gnonto, on the other hand, if we sell now, it looks like compared with last year, we look we will lose money relatively (we could have sold him for a lot more last year than this).
I read that a decision has been made to sell Roca for a derisory £4m, a fraction of what we paid for him. Shocking piece of Ortaism.
Other rumours are obviously the O'Hare rumour and today Hume which is probably nonsense.
On the financial side, the 30th June is the end of the financial reporting period, no deals will be made until after then as that impacts on the profit and sustainability window.
But as I said, not being reported in the nationals or in the square ball, any Leeds podcasts or local press about a possible transfer embargo.
You'd think it would be, Leeds are big news.

I’m also surprised by the news from Don. Doesn’t really make sense to me and doesn’t add up. Look at the analysis that’s been done of the accounts up to last year and the professional opinion is that everything is ok. Also add into the lack of scrutiny that the football league has placed on this year’s accounts in comparison to Leicesters. After all this is the same accounting period that is being debated.

Given the position that Leeds are in following last years account it would take a really significant loss to this season to put us beyond the limit, never mind being £40m beyond the limit currently. Which sounds improbably to me.

However, Don is pretty much always spot on. If not always. And we obviously don’t have all the facts and figures. As we shouldn’t expect to. So I am worried. And a lot more worried than I was before Don typed his comment.

If Don’s info is as genuine is often is then we are not in as strong a position to get out of this league as I expected.

Another way to look at this is you'd have to do an awful lot of business in a week to realise £40m worth of sales especially in the current financial climate, during the Euros and at the end of the financial reporting cycle.
Not going to happen.
If it's true and we end up with an embargo, it's a reason not to sell players, we'd be entitled to, but if we don't have to, why further weaken the squad.

Always though a transfer embargo meant you
could not transfer in new players. And if we still
hold debt that needs paying, restricting outgoings
further shafts those the club owes. Sure I'm wrong.
But, does seem a bit c-ck eyed.

Batty, as I remember rightly Cardiff were under an embargo last season but still managed to do transfer business. Not sure if they were all freed, but they seemed to have no problems bringing players in. I am not sure about the ins and outs of an embargo but I would think free transfers would be ok?

posted on 23/6/24

It looks odds on Rodon will be off to Southampton or the other two newly promoted sides and Leeds will be sniffing around the loan and free transfer market. Gilchrist from Chelsea, Skipp from Spurs and O'Hare from Coventry would be a very good scenario plus the possible return of Aeronson, Kristenson snd Wober and keeping Archie Gray I would say we'll still have a pretty strong Championship squad and with also Struiyk back fit and you never know Cresswell may have a future at Leeds too but even if he doesn't and assuming Summerville and Gnonto will depart I still think there is plenty for Leeds fans to feel optimistic about.

Macca, all signs are as you say, Rodon to one of the
three promoted teams. There are some really good
players available through the free route.

Not overly confident right now as a fan. But, I'm sure
someone will tell me there's time left to get in what
Farke needs. Ultimately, if Farke's happy, all's well.
