I literally fell asleep during the game.
From what I did watch, we improved a bit when Mainoo came on but it almost doesn't matter who we have in midfield when 3 of the 4 front players all want to play in the same position.
We’ve gone from joint favourites with the bookies to outright favourites.
This luck of the draw stuff is not true historically either - 2021 we had Croatia, Czechs and Scotland in the group and made hard work of it, we then had Germany in the rd 16.
2018 we had Belgium in the Group who went on to finish third, the only game they didn’t win was losing to eventual winners France.
2022 - the first 4 games were straight forwards and we won 3 very convincingly and played awful against USA, we then met France in the quarters
Southgate needs to drop a big name or 2.
Last nights game was rhe perfect opportunity to at least throw on Watkins on for.Kane who would offer more pace and movement, Palmer who would do what he did instead of the predictable Saka, Gordon to run at the FB instead of Bellingham strolling around....shake up these big names who have don't very little.
Palmer was the only one and he was excellent. Gordon got 5 mins and that was for Foden, who had probably been our best player, and Kane stayed on and continued to barely have any impact.
Southgate is coward. And our destiny was in Denmarks hands and luckily they drew handing us top spot and an easier half of the draw....that said, we made playing the 57th ranked team look hard so there is no easy side for this lot.

Kane was the only one creating - that ball in to Bellingham was unreal.
We came up against a low blocking fast counter attack side who were there for the point. As concerning as it is to see us unable to break them down, removing Kane is not going to help.
The issue is with Foden, Bellingham and Saka - They aren’t creating enough - well anything other than the goal against Serbia.
Now where I would really question Southgate is why the faaaack Luke Shaw is here? All the talk was second group game, now we’re at the knockouts and he hasn’t played a minute and we don’t have another left back - it limits that front 4 horribly.
He has to try a CM of Rice, Bellingham, Foden and then get Gordon wide left.
The weakest link at the moment for me is Saka - a player who just doesn’t look fit
How is "Safegate" picking underperforming players..
Kane & Bellingham Foden Mainoo Rice & Palmer have been unbelievably brilliant this term
There is no reason we should not be smashing teams
Not to mention Saka Walker Stones Gordon...I mean FFS how many generational talents does it take to play well & win a game

Absolutely dreadful again, I can't think whether it makes me feel suicidal or homicidal ! .........

Saka is another favourite he'll always start despite opposition teams figuring him out in 10 minutes he's so predictable. He also always looks wasted by the 2nd half.
I'd love a successful manager with a pair and no loyalty hang ups to come in there and tell alot of these favourite flakes their time is up this tournament. Let others have a chance to shine and maybe we'll play as a team.
Luckiest manager ever with the worst outcomes for having the most luck.
We'll still get to the last 8 or even better and Kane will say he's been one of the greatest managers of all time and that he should stay.

Statistically he is already the second greatest England manager behind sir Alf.
People talk about the generational talent he has, but the truth is England have had better sides. 2002 -06
Robinson
G Nev Terry Ferdinand Cole
Beckham Gerrard Lampard Scholes
Owen Rooney
Never got further than the quarters of a major competition.
That was a better starting XI but not a better squad, and that's why there were always excuses about tiredness or the asian heat, but the reality was that we didn't have the options off the bench.

If we'd had Pickford back then and a bit more luck we probably would have won something. Say what you want about Pickford but he's saved more pens in 2 shootouts (3) than Robinson, James and Hart did in 3 (0). Plus various injuries and decisions going against us - Rooney injury 2004, Beckham and Owen injuries 2002, Campbell disallowed goal. Southgate has had none of this, all of our top players have been fit and ready.

I was talking tournament record
Because it has been good enough results wise even if performances haven’t backed it up.
I mean were Argentina decent in Qatar? They had some good games and some howlers. 2-1 loss to the Saudis, then creaky controlled but boring wins over Mexico and Poland.
Australia in the round of 16 and they laboured to a 2-1 win.
Quarters - 2-0 up with 7 minutes to go against the Dutch, and they fell apart. Eventually scraping through on Pens.
Over the Semi and the first half of the final, they finally turned up, only to collapse again in the final and scrape the competition on penalties
Here’s the thing though - no one cares, winners write their own stories.
I don’t care if we have 4 0-0’s in a row and win all 4 penalty shootouts.
England just need to get over the line. Then let the critics moan about how they weren’t entertained
