Italy are playing schitt as well and we beat them home and away in qualifying - but they are the side I fear, they like a horror movie bad guy - almost impossible to kill.
The Dutch after that - Weghorst pulling onto Guéhi and winning header after header is a worry.
We should beat the rest - the Austrians will be tough, but I’m not sure they beat the Netherlands a second time
I wouldn't fancy us against anyone right now but Southgate has to be the luckiest manager ever when it comes to international draws. It's like Man City in the fa cup. Still wins fack all though as he's crap.
Can we just hire Southgate for the group stages of tournaments so we get the lucky draws and then sack him before we meet a big team?

They were a big team in name only. Possibly the worst German team I’ve seen since 2004

Despite his size, Weghorst was spectacularly poor in the air and lost so many duels and first ball contestations in when he played for United.
If he suddenly morphs into Duncan Ferguson against us then something funny is going on.

It’s all part of rubbishing England under Southgate - in the same time period only Deschamps has done better and Dalic I would say has equalled.
Not really how it works, things change in the space of two years and they got knocked out in the group stages in two tournaments, with easier groups than they had at the Euros. This current Germany team is better than the one that got knocked out of the world cup 18 months ago, by your logic it’s pretty much the same team as the last Euros.

They have a better manager and have started to blood more talented youngsters though and play with a different style. The German side in 2021 really wasn’t much different to their 2022 one and were very poor, especially in struggling at home to get a point against Hungary. England winning at home against a very average German side is a good result but not really proof that Southgate is a manager capable of winning the biggest of games when it matters. Maybe that will change this tournament. If he gets to play a big game 😂
They had a different manager in the world cup to 2021, and brought some youngsters in, but got worse. Not saying it proves anything about Southgate, I’m disputing it’s the worst Germany team since 2004 when it wasn’t even worse than the two teams either side of that competition.

Southgate's England can only beat rubbish teams; if Southgate's England beats a team, it must be rubbish.
I don't think England has ever been spectacular under his leadership, but the circular logic deployed to prove he has achieved nothing is tedious.
He's achieved nothing meaningful. And what he has achieved is pretty well solely down to the quality of players. Switch our squads for Austria's, we'd be on the plane home already
No chance we get to the final.
Watch how we make Slovakia look like a top team.
based on the snail pace with which Southgate is making changes we probably needed an easier looking game for the first knockout round
means that by the time we play someone with some real quality Southgate might finally have realised playing with two wide players is quite useful

Southgate has had more luck than previous managers, you can't deny it. Everything seems to keep falling into place for him to get far. Sven underachieved too with the team he had and if Southgate was managing that team back then he'd have not got past a QF either. Generous draws, home tournament, no injury problems, good squads, just other general bits of luck.
Another great chance for him to get into a semi with only Slovakia in our way. Gutted we aren't facing more of a test here.
Easy group then an easy run to the final. Every door is being opened for them to win it and they're still trying to climb in through the upstairs bathroom window
