Brazil will come again, people forget but they were abysmal mid 80’s to early 90’s. The side that won the World Cup in 94 were very functional rather than full of flair - that wouldn’t come until Ronaldo moved from a squad player to the first team. Then in 2002 - probably my favourite ever version of them emerged

Fernando Diniz tried to get Brazil to a more traditional South American style with his relational football, but he wasn't given enough time really and the poor results sealed his fate
With most decent Brazilians going to Europe as youngsters it's unlikely they'll play as they used to again

Lack of a striker probably kills him. Has had to play with Richarlison and sometimes Jesus for his entire international career.

World Cup 82 was the first one I remember...
As an 8 year old I was a big fan of that Brazil team and was mesmerized by their football
I had a World Cup wall chart & put Brazil as the winners right away.
I remember watching the Brazil v Scotland match in my grandparents house amazed at the goals Brazil scored

Kroos and Modric delivering will help
Of course but I can’t imagine he’s as useless without them as he is for the national team. Kroos is gone and Modric is a sub these days and I’m sure he’ll still be one of the best players in Europe. Brazil still have good players (not quite Real level) and it’s odd he does so poorly for them.
They’ve not been the same since the 2 best ever full backs Cafu and Carlos retired - they were footballing gods, I’ve still not seen any fullback with a quarter of what those 2 had

Hot stuff from Vini, with an extra dollop of showboating and the usual riled up opponents wanting to deck him
@82 - I haven't looked at Vini's stats, but aside from Brazil just not being all that good overall, I do remember that early on in his career he made a lot of sub apps where he didn't actually play that much, so maybe that helps to explain what makes his goals-to-appearances ratio look so bad.
Then there's also the fact that early on in his career his finishing was absolutely god-awful, at Madrid too.
He's improved vastly in that regard, even when he's by no means the most efficient. I think the overall impression in England might be a little different because he's actually done very well against PL sides.
Skipped through the Colombia game to see the goals too. The penalty the Costa Rica 'keeper gave away for the opener was hilarious. Like, wtf?
James Rodríguez got his third assist of the tournament too, nice through-ball for Córdoba to score he third.
Davinson Sánchez headed the second from a corner in case any Spurs fans are interested.
Liverpool's Díaz put away a very tidy penalty for the opener.
Ten straight wins now for Colombia.
Brazil-Colombia next. Both sides virtually through unless Costa Rica hammer Paraguay, but I imagine it'll be pretty feisty nonetheless.
