I guess we will never know the full story but looking at that it seems he might have wanted the move.

What gets me is how clubs get to know what his release clause is? Who tells them? The club? The agent? Both?

Am pretty sure he would have wanted the move.

Has just become a multimillionaire at age of 18.

Six year deal, got to be worth north of £20m

Good luck to the Lad

Exactly how I see it.

Latest statement welcomes Rodon. Deal completed. Undisclosed fee if course 😉

Life goes on and we all hope Archie has a very successful elite footballing career which I'm sure he will but without sounding cold he's history now and Joe Rodon and the rest of the Leeds United squad are our present and only concern in getting us back this season amongst the big clubs in the Premier league and facing Archie and his new teammates and giving them a good game hopefully beating them.

Archie will be fine, Leeds be fine, the football world and Leeds United will carry on churning out some new footballing superstars which hopefully we'll be able to keep and enjoy longer than we did with Archie but until then I personally can't wait for the new season to start
as I'm very optimistic that we will have a new team well equipped to get automatic promotion this time.

It will only help us if we reinvest in players.

2 goal scoring midfielders

A right back

Left back

And a few experienced loanees please

I used to wonder about the release clause issue but was told that the players agent would have access to it and it's not a clause that has to stay a secret? whether that is true or not I don't know but would think it is correct.

Saw Gray a few times last season for Leeds and felt he will finish up a great player if the trajectory continues, good size, speed and comfortable on the ball, decent price to be fair but always disappointing when you lose one of your own

Agree with a14

Actions speak louder than words. If we then go on and sell Summerville and don't reinvest in the squad then its all talk and no action.

For some reason though i do trust them (for now)

I also think the return of Rodon is a massive boost to maintaining what I imagine was a great team spirit in the changing room last season and keeping the likes of Ampadu, James and Rutter happy and who knows may even pursuade Summerville to stick around

Sometimes when the most important piece in the jigsaw is missing the whole thing falls apart and that is why I think Rodon personally at this moment in Leeds United's history is that most important piece in the jigsaw and more crucial to the side and holding things together than
young Archie is.

Just hope that his replacement doesn't get the Matt Grimes treatment. Wasn't his fault he was Lewis Cooks replacement. OHare would be my pick for replacement. For 40 million, we can sign a few players to make us a better side overall.

Good luck to him. Hopefully he becomes a full England internstional. And he fulfills his massive potential.

I’m bitterly disappointed to see him go and equally sad each time it’s demonstrated that we don’t dine at the top table. However, that’s been the case for a very long time now (thanks Ridsdale you b@stard) and it’s also been the case in football for a very long time that money talks and loyalty is only for the fans.

If we re-invest the money (£40m?) in new players, that’s realistically the best we can expect. Anyway, I’m pleased that Rodon has joined us on a permanent now.

Look at it this way.

If he aged for another team and his name wasn't Gray you would look at this deal and think.

Some team just got 40 million for an 18year old right back playing in the championship who hasn't ever played in the premiership.

You'd think that the selling team just made the best deal ever.

But because it's us and because his name is Gray it feels like a suckered punch.

We just got 40 million for a rightback and also just signed Rodon on a permanent.

We have sorted out the issue at centre back and now have also probably sorted out the finical fair play requirements as well with the redbull deal and given ourselves some room for further signings as gray is all profit.

Hate to say it, but transfer and finance wise, today is a good day

Weren't Fulham supposedly interested in Bamford?
I think we've also been linked with Fulham's Slovakian reserve keeper so maybe a swap deal involving PB will suit all parties and regarding Piroe I'm slightly surprised to hear he may be offloaded so soon after signing him last season but then again he seemed to lose confidence and form crucially in the last dozen games or so and fell out with Summerville which again may indicate if Piroe leaves that's another possible reason why Summerville stays or because Summerville is staying Piroe wants out... who knows?

My head says that, financially this is the right thing for Archie and Leeds. Still gutted that he has gone though.

Fact is there are only a handful of clubs in any of the top leagues that can afford not to be selling clubs. My own club Celtic make a play on the fact that they will facilitate moves if it goes well and it suits everyone. Rinse and repeat and prospective recruits can be shown evidence that this is the case which can only be good for Leeds if it persuades players to join them versus their competitors.

Last thing I will say on the matter is on Saturday morning Leeds were asked do you want him to go if not he stays, the reply was we dont want him to go but he has to otherwise it's an embargo and points deduction,

This makes sense. And matches what I've read/heard.

As always, I trust Don's info on this.

Heartbreaking to hear.

Especially the way so many other clubs just ignore the rules and get away with it. I would have preferred us to just take the points deduction I think. Get 100 points and it won’t matter.

Maybe - but a transfer embargo could have killed us at a time where we need to build better for next season.
