Scholes actually said Mainoo is ten times better at his age than he was.

I'll say it again: Rice has been our best midfielder this tournament.

1 mistake doesn't change that. Utd fans are taking that as some sort of slight on mainoo, it's not. He's grown into the tournament well.

I hope for our sake you're right because we will be dominating again.

Way too early for that talk though. Paul Scholes is genuinely one of the best players I have ever watched live and he did it for over a decade. The man was a genius for us.

Mainoo is nowhere near scholes, and I don't think he ever will be. He's a different player.

Big fan of Rice. Don't think he's been as good as Mainoo personally.

And I'm not bias. Nobody is more critical of Utd players than I am.

Rice had a great season though. Not sure he's added much to this England team so far. Maybe Sunday will be his moment?

Of course you're biased. If it was a Liverpool player, you wouldn't be talking this rubbish.

Rice needs to keep doing what he's doing. Sans the mistake he made today.

Pretends to use "we" when referring to England. Are we unmasking the fraud that is Kash?!

Mainoo is already top 5 English mids dead or alive!!!!!!

I personally think Rice has had a good tournament.

Massive presence in the midfield both defensively and offensively.

Very good first half and been a key part of the squad since he broke into the starting XI.

United really do have a special player on their hands, let’s hope we don’t f-ck it up.

That may be the case but Scholes had longevity so let's compare when Mainoo hangs up his boots.

If Mainoo goes on to achieve a fraction of what Scholes achieved personally and for his club then Mainoo would have had a good career.

Scholes is a modest chap, he's not going to blow his own trumpet, is he?!

Indeed LOVED Scholes, still do, he’s a humble man and whilst some diss him I would facking LOVE if Manioo was 3/4s as good as he was

Thought he was excellent. Brave, took care of the ball well, movement was good.

He looks at home there tbh.

Very good, but not as good as Foden. Where did that performance come from?

Popped up everywhere from six to ten, inside left, inside right, wide right, collecting the ball from the CBs in his own half. He was unmarkable and I don’t think he gave the ball away once. Outstanding.

Not sure what games you've been watching. He's not found the levels he did for Arsenal this season.

I am a big fan though. Maybe his big moment could come on Sunday.

Foden Mainoo and Palmer all grew up within a few miles of each other. Very proud moment for Greater Manchester.

I said Phil Foden was best player tonight. He plays for a club team I hate pal.

I am very critical of United players also.

Kobbie Mainoo is different. He's an absolute gem. Personally think he's a better footballer than Rice with a better football brain. Maybe doesn't have that lung busting challenge in him like Rice has but he has everything else.

Best performance so far, still doesn't seem like he's ready to do it over 90 mins but seems to be learning every game

Also without Rice we'd have been run over by a few times. People who can't see what he does are the same ones who think Saka should have been dropped over Kane Rice or Bellingham

Can't believe people keep responding seriously to these silly, tedious, troll articles.

He's doing well enough and has shown that he deserves his place in the team.

Next season is the tough one, where everyone now knows about him and will be paying him a lot more attention - can he go from being good, to very good and confirm he should be first choice for Utd for the next 5-10 years.

Yep. The swiss game and netherlands game the oppo had a player following Mainoo around for much of the game in attempt to limit his influence.

Opposition is already well aware of his influence in midfield and im sure in the season ahead he will be man marked quite a fair bit
