Southgate did it again

At 1-1 we had the momentum. The team then went back into a shell and that's because of the manager. Safety first nonce.

If he takes over at United....I'm not going to a single game. I'm not Eriks biggest fan but my god he's in a different league to this moron.

Elite managers don’t want international jobs these days it seems.

Spain are a technically better team. They’d have won even bigger had he really gone for it. Best team won simple as that. Can understand his tactics here..against Slovakia and Swiss, no

Spain were good and I picked them to win at the start but let’s be clear - they have Cucarella playing for them, Morata who’s decent but no Kane, a CB who plays in Saudi and lost their best player at half time.

Yes they’re better than England as a team and it’s no real shame to lose to them but England had their chance at 1-1 and did the one thing Spain wanted them to do

Sitting off Spain seemed to be the tactic after we equalised.

The worst thing you can do against a highly technical team when legs are starting to tire.

Best team won absolutely no doubt.....but we never stood a chance with this Muppet.

Harry Kane should be ashamed too. He wasn't even close to being fully fit. That's not right in my book. We played with 10 men for an hour.

Honestly sick of these garbage articles

I’m no apologist for Southgate but Spain are a better team. The best team in this tournament and at the moment in Europe.

The moment Southgate gave the fans what they wanted (Palmer and Watkins) and we got back into it, Spain went to the next level. Defensively we just don’t have the players to deal with them. Even in the midfield we can’t compete. They are a better team

Sick of England fans believing that because we’ve got the likes of Palmer, Saka and Bellingham we’re a shoo-in to win any tournament. It’s embarrassing

Stones was excellent, shaw decent too. I think this result would have happened no matter who was in charge, the team that deserved it won it

This.

England as a nation will never succeed under the pressure the fans and media put the country under. We are our own worst enemy

What annoys me is that a balanced England side would have given them more of a game. Their midfield is better than ours but Liverpool have shown in the past you can win things with an average midfield if you play to the strengths of your forwards.

Tactically sitting back when you have momentum is the biggest enemy. Do you really not see what just happened?

I felt we didn’t attack Cucarella enough and then for some inexplicable reason we left him alone on the left wing for the last fifteen minutes.

I have no idea why.

Ah. And in one post you’ve basically given away the whole purpose of the article. Makes sense. Enjoy your day Rob.

their midfield is just so much better at keeping the ball than ours, same story as the Italy game 3 years ago.

Absolutely this.

for all the the talk about the England DNA project we haven't really produced the kind of players we were looking enviously at from the continent. We now have a lot of really technical attacking players I guess but nobody who is running a game like Xavi, Pirlo, Modric etc.

Does anybody know why Saka never takes on his full back on the outside and always turns backward or sideways, is he instructed to do it

Because he plays for Arsenal

Honestly think Southgate's biggest problem has always been he has favourites who he won't drop regardless of form.

Kane was poor all tournament, Walker was average at best and at fault for several goals, Foden and Bellingham been poor outside of the odd moment.

Can't tell me Watkins or Toney wouldn't have offered more than this version of Kane.

I agree, although I do think with some of the players we have now we could coach them to play a more fluid style. But obviously that's never going to come from a manager such as Southgate.

hopefully players like Wharton and Mainoo really kick on

Rice is a great player but he's just not offering enough on the ball, there's a reason Arteta ended up using him as an 8 and bringing jorginho into the team. he just isn't good enough receiving under pressure and dictating the play
