The Archie Gray and Korean kid signings weren’t even reported until they were pretty much done.
99% of reporting is bollox.
I used to think Ali Gold was quite reliable a few years ago.
The only one I trust is a Here we go from Romano and that’s usually just a few hours notice to a club announcement anyway.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I only go by the official spurs updates!
It's not a lie.
Spurs have spent 100s of millions in the last few seasons on player purchases.
Fans just fail to appreciate it and keep complaining regardless.
When is season ticket renewal time, these stories are usually drip fed into the media around then.

* in the last 7 years Spurs have spent the equivalent of 230% of player sale income on new players.
* that's approx £790m spent v £345m come in.
* in 2023 Spurs spent a record £224m on players.
* in the last 4 years Spurs spent £584m on players and only got £228m back, a net spend of £356m or £89m per year.
* in 2013 Spurs' record signing was £17m.
In the last 2 years we've spent the following on a player: £20m, £25m, £25, £34.5m, £40m, £40m, £47.5m, £50m, £60m.

And, that works out at around £65m net per year over the last 7 seasons, which is chicken feed for the 8th highest revenue in world football. We also have the lowest wage bill as a percentage of turnover in the PL.

It’s all relevant though.
We have the biggest FFP margin in all of Europe - because we are hugely profitable and rarely push the boat out in the market.
Yes we’ve spent good money - but we are capable of spending much much more. Whilst we win faaaack all it will be a stick to beat the owners with whether some fans like it or not.
Personally I am relaxed about transfers this summer, I actually think we have a good squad that is just a little short and that we are building an army of young talent that could flourish and propel us much higher - Spurs always do better when they buy young talent, we just seem better at that.
I expect Eze and a striker will be added before the end of the window - possibly a LWB as well.
I’m relaxed, but I get why some are frustrated. £175 for me and my eldest to go to the home games against Brentford and Everton this season (got rid of my ST so I could go to games with him) is faaaacking steep - yet we won’t chip into the £400m FFP wriggle room we have but will build a hotel - in faaacking Tottenham

But we're only 8th highest revenue because of the money that's been invested?
"Profit from Operations before depreciation, amortisation, player trading, interest and taxation increased to £138.7m (2022: £112.3m)
• The loss for the year after depreciation, amortisation, player trading, interest and taxation was £86.8m (2022: £50.1m), reflecting the significant and continued investment in the playing squad
• Our net debt at 30 June was £677.4m (2022: £626.1m). Over 90% of our financial borrowings of £851.2m, are at fixed rates, with an average interest rate of 2.79%. The average maturity of all our borrowings is 19.4 years, some of which stretch until 2051"
Having Blown the best part of 150mln quid on the likes of N'Dombele, GLC & Richarlison in the last few seasons I'm quite relaxed with Spurs taking a more careful approach. Gray & Bergvall look like smart signings already and I'm not sure we need that much more.
Personally, I wouldn't have bothered with Werner (would rather have put his wages towards getting someone like Eze (Long term replacement for Son).
I still think we'll go after a striker, Probably someone like Jonathan David (Lille) and hopefully better luck with Injuries with the likes of VDV, Cuti,Udogie Madders and Biss and I think we'll be in good shape.
I imagine some of these young players that have gone on tour will play more this season and with a bit of luck Ange has learned to be a bit more pragmatic at the right times to ensure we don't throw points away.
I'm not worried at this point, I would imagine there will be another 2 or 3 signings before the end of the window......I think we are a decent outside bet for the top 4
Good points.
The easiest thing to do if someone wants regular very big signing, is to support Man City, or possibly Man United or Chelsea. Otherwise, it is what it is.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
But why is it?
What is our reluctance in the age of FFP and PSR to flex our currently considerable advantage.
Newcastles owners have all the money in the world but can’t spend it, Villa have sold their best midfielder despite qualifying for the CL, City have only made a signing from one of their feeder clubs.
Why not push on whilst we have this advantage, why are we retaining the FFP headroom?
Christ do you lot not get sick of moaning about the same thing every day ffs
at least wait until the window has ended before you start kicking up a fuss, for all you know we could sign Eze or Neto or Toney tomorrow. Seems to be how we're doing business now, the Werner and Gray signings came out of nowhere
I'm not sure about Eze now. I'd love him to come in but I think Arsenal selling ESR for 35m is all part of their financing approach for Eze. The only area of weakness in their team is on the left side. Let's face it, if Arsenal come in for him, it's over. I don't think City are even in the equation, not with Grealish and Doku in that area.

Pretty sure Arsenal want Nico Williams.
Eze is more a central player anyway, he can play wide forward but I think prefers Maddison’s 10 role - would be great to alternate those 2 and play then together at times.
If we miss out on Eze then I assume it will be full steam ahead for Neto

Almost all of our biggest flops have been signed from overseas, Ndombelly, Lo Celso, Loldado, Gil, Janssen, Paulinho, Njie, Chiriches, etc etc
If you are going to spend big then it is far less a risk signing proven PL players, which is why going the extra yard for the likes of Eze, Neto, Toney etc should not be such a problem.
Our problem (as always) is that everything is a business decision rather than a sporting decision.
