Jimmy Carter's presidency is seen more of the latter (obviously not saintly, but a man of integrity) and he only served one term.

He's still alive too, so maybe he can take the Democrat nomination at the convention next month.

There have been politicians who acted honestly and energetically in the interests of the common good while being unpleasant in their personal lives. I can support such a figure as a politician, and in any case I think it's best not to idolise leaders.

There have been figures who politics were monstrous but lived personal lives that were beyond reproach. Hitler was reputedly frugal, treated his domestic staff well, not personally avaricious, etc.

In the case of Trump, he's a dishonest, cynical, narcissistic, vindictive bully and cheat, and his politics exactly match his personality.

Surely his many wrongs should prevent him being a president of the USA
