If I told you two years ago that after the first few seasons at the new stadium we’d be buying a kid from Leeds, Timo Werner and Bournemouth’s striker to spearhead second-season title charge for a new manager
, you’d have laughed in my face.
Hopefully Solanke will take us to that next level. But then why didn’t they get him in early like Ange wanted?
But Christopher, you’re talking to people with “Ginola” and “Diamond Lights” in their handles - these guys have seen quality players at our club, they’ve seen what it looks like to challenge for trophies and titles. They know what it looks like - and doesn’t look like this.
If you want to “enjoy a process” and “enjoy a (constant) rebuild” that’s fine, but other people want to see Tottenham Hotspur make a serious attempt at winning something. Currently, we are not a serious football club.
If Villa or Liverpool were buying Werner and Solanke we would be p!sing ourselves at them. Will Liverpool or Villa be thinking “Sheite, they’ve got that Archie Gray from Leeds, we need to up our game”?
If the aim is to secure 5th place and maybe flirt with 4th, great but let’s not pretend it’s anything more than that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks for making me feel as old as I am. I fully respect Christopher views & he talks a lot of sense. Im just tired of Spurs/ Enic talking a big game and fail to deliver anything. I don't want Spurs to be like City or Chelsea....TBH I'd be delighted with FA or league cup win once a decade. I've been supporting Spurs since 1984.... My hopes & expectations are low to say the least.

imagine if you told spurs fans 2 years ago we would be starting some keeper from Empoli and some CB from Wolfsburg
where is the ambition LEVY
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To finish 5th
As a club we never learn and its been like this for years.
we should had our real targets lined up and irons in the fire close season and made our moves early doors or when the euros finished.
In the end we will be left with players we don't really want or need or fit our system Ange want's to play.
Does kind of suggest does Ange have any influence or say or is he just offered players and just accepts them based on the knowledge that he's not getting who he actually wants.
Levy Strikes again......
lol cba I'll leave you all to wallow in misery together
Mugs like Christopher are the exact kind of fans Levy wants to fill WHL with, those who know our place, spend freely in the stadium and sit there keeping their mouths shut. A stadium full of Levyista's is ENIC',s end game.
Most sane fans realize we have all been watching the same movie over and over again for years and years with no hope of it ever changing.
Levy out.

Coming from one of the biggest lizards on here LOL.
I have accepted that Spurs are not a serious club.
To be honest there don't seem to be many great signings available. Can't say I'm jealous of any other clubs signings so far.
Think Solanke would be a good option, if we buy him and Gray that's already £100m spent.
Its crazy that 65 Million gets you Solanke these days
Solanke for 65m is madness.

The problem is what other number 9 should we buy and for what price could we get them?
Brighton want £100m for Evan Ferguson.
There is a genuine striker shortage

Whilst I agree there is a shortage of strikers.
Toney? I think he's got to be much cheaper given its his last year. He's better too.
Sesko has a 65m euro release so that's a tad cheaper with more potential.
There are more exciting options out there.
Solanke is just underwhelming. That said there's potential he's better for the system you play than those above.

Solanke I would prefer over Toney. But if I’m honest remove the price tag and it’s a bit underwhelming. But there aren’t loads of top quality ready to go no9s.
Gyokeres would be cheaper than Solanke. He would be a bigger gamble though. Albeit perhaps a higher potential ceiling.

Well that’s it - when you see Solankes stats from last season you can see how much better suited to our system he is over Toney. 19 goals for a team that scored 54 in total isn’t bad.
I still think chances are he is someone we want to move on in a couple of years time - but hope I am wrong on that one
Worst part of all this is that the latest news is that Richy doesn't want to move to Saudi because he thinks it'll impact his national team chances. If we don't shift Richy, I doubt we get Solanke anyway. Levy is risk adverse so he's not going to sign one without a guarantee of selling the other.

He would have been even cheaper last summer, £20m from Coventry.
Big big gamble paying £60-£70m now for him, Carlos Vinicius did well in the Portuguese league as well

I might be in the minority here but Id rather spend that kinda money on Neto or Eze than Solanke and keep Richie
Im sick of watching Kulu slow things down and cut inside from the right. I dont think he's done enough in the past 12 months to be a starter and actually think he's more effective in as a central striker (He's big powerful, decent in the air and has a great strike (left peg only Id like a front three of
***Son***Riche***Neto***
You could then have Johnson, Kulu and Werner as options on the bench
In a perfect world you get Eze as a long term replacement for Son and also as someone that can play on the left but also as a number 10 who's a great finisher.
150mln quid might get you Gray, Eze and Neto and Spurs are much improved.... If you had to move on the likes of GLC and even Kulu in addition to the likes of PEH, NDombele, Royal I'd do it in a heartbeat

That actually helps us, loads of sneaky things you can do - if we give them £65m straight, they pocket £52m with £13m going to Liverpool.
If we pay them a £40m loan fee for this season with an obligation to purchase at the end of the season for £15m - they still get £52m overall but Liverpool only get £3m
