I think its literally illegal to swim in the river due to its pollution.

I'm sure Culer was just doing his daily exercise.

30 years ago I spent a wonderful fortnight in central Paris on a training course. There was a barge or converted boat moored up that had a naturist swimming pool inside. I think the water was not from the river? Anyhow, I was young and highly satisfied.

yeah the Belgium athletes pulled out as one of them got sick but then confirmed it was due to a virus and not the river ...... apparently anyway?
