I suspect I’m not the only one to think the team is a couple of good signings short. I seriously hope Farke’s not prepared to gamble that this team is good enough without spending more cash. He must know he lives or dies by this season’s achievements.
I think we're better than at the start of last year. Better balance with just a couple of signing for depth to come.
I can see us getting off to a good start to the season and we better because that unbeaten streak in the new year will be hard to duplicate.
Will be posting the first matchday thread of the new season tomorrow and will be interesting to see what the feeling is for the season ahead, positive or negative or mostly apprehensive.
Am I the only person who finds Farke extremely irritating? Repetitive? Longwinded? Even self-promoting at times. Literally spends 4 minutes answering a question that could be answered in 30 seconds.
Know it's not important or part of the job description, but really struggle to warm to the guy
Yes English is his second language, but
We are significantly weaker as a squad compared to start of last season.
We’ve lost Gray, Summerville, Kamara, Cresswell, Sinisterra, Ayling, Cooper, Spence and we’ve brought in, Rothwell, Bogle and our old goalkeeper.
I’m not saying Spencer was great but when we came to us of course everyone was happy.
I think we are significantly weaker and I can’t believe we haven’t got more inbounds coming in as this squad looks very thin now.

As a squad, I agree that we are weaker, Jonty, but I do think our current squad offers a better balance and greater versatility than we had last year. Yes, there are fewer shining stars, such as Sini, Gray and Cree, and we never got to see the best of Spence. That said, Farke didn't trust his squad last season with the result that by April, we had run out of steam. This season, we look better equipped for the Championship. We have fewer quality players, but more experience and more depth. As well as bringing in Bogle and Rothwell, Aaronson and Wober are effectively new players.
We have seen a range of formations in pre-season and I believe we have more tools for unlocking the buses many teams will be parking in front of us. So, yes, we are not as talented as this time last year, but we are more cohesive and efficient. We definitely have a squad that can win this Championship. Can Farke get them over the line? In his last three seasons as a Championship manager, Farke has won 94, 97 and 90 points. What makes you think he can't reach 90+ points again, Jonty?
Only player from the side that finished last season that hasnt been replaced is Summerville,
Pascal is back, Wober and Aaronson two internationals are back, Joseph who hardly played last season looks like hes ready to step up, need to bring a replacement in for Summerville and some cover at FB, 90pts should be minimum,
What i have seen in pre-season is that we look far more aggressive on the press and will be getting more out of the midfield.
its a poor league teams have no money we paid the price for pre-season last year and it was a freak season, i will be disappointed if we are not looking at going up come February.

Dont want to give the kiss of death for tomorrow but vibes from Portsmouth (mates contact) is they are a lot worse that last year, leading scorer is out for a while along with a few others, we all know what this means then!

Hoping Rowe gets signed. He would replace Cree.
Joseph (this season's version) is an upgrade at CF.
Agree on Struijk, Wober, and BA. Bogle looks good.
Rutter looks unstoppable. And probably the star.
Can we keep him fit? He's going to get clattered.
And we don't have anything close to him to step in.
Our style of play looks more balanced.
Championship is more than likely weaker than
last season. But, we all know how unpredictable
this league is. Sheff Utd will be strong. They've
added some good players. Not sure about Burnley
or Luton. Can't see them being poor. Coventry
have looked really good. Few others. I hope we
go up top 2. Right now though, we're top 6 for sure
until we see who's who strength wise.

there you go... well done Light... its all coming home again
our year this year, not guna be an absolute carve up in the slightest
Taking into account everything (transfers inbound) and the risk of a late star sale...... I am predicting top 1 and Joseph top scorer in the divison and will be putting money on it(unusal for me) today.
The dawn of a new season and so far, nothing but positivity from Lowfield, all is good in the world.
We are in a better situation with strikers due to Joseph clearly a genuine option now.
We are weaker with wingers due to the loss of Summerville. Hopefully we can get Rowe that will reduce the gap.
We have Aaronson back who gives a proper alternative to Rutter at 10, also means Rutter could be used wide if Aaronson performs. So improvement.
Better balance to the midfield although another player would be nice, especially as Ampadu might have to drop into the back line.
We have to expect that Bogle will perform better than Spence. But losing Gray is a means that it’s hard to say with fullbacks right now. With injury record of Bryan and Firpo would like to see another fullback that can play both sides.
Centre backs we have to say that Wober coming in for Cooper is an improvement. Wober will hopefully stay and can also cover left back. Farke said very good things about James Debayo who has clearly taken Cresswell’s place. Hopefully be good enough for more minutes if needed.
Keepers the same.
Pretty confident we will get top 2 at least. Be interesting to see how Sheff Utd do, but can’t see 3 sides getting 90+ points again this season. If we can get 90 again we will be fine.
Does anyone think Wober will stay? Hes looked very sheepish on every video I have seen of him! haha. I still expect him to go. Probably on deadline day!
While I do think we need a couple more good signings, I do agree with sentiment that although last season's squad was better on paper, it wasn't as cohesive. I think this is our season and, seemingly, so do most neutrals.
