Amanda, Jeez Jonty you really need to do something about your I-phone, not selling me on the product.
Extraordinary game today.
Portsmouth done well following the successful game tactic to playing Leeds, work hard, kick our dangerous players and score with every shot on target.
Thought we totally lost momentum with the substitutions, losing the pace of our 3 quickest players and no back up on the wings.
I'm starting to believe the nervousness across the back 4 is coming from the goalkeeper and I think an upgrade is required. Another winger is a must and have to be more ruthless in front of goal.
Sadly some these points could have been written 12 months ago and have not been resolved.
Yes I was pleasantly surprised by the female co commentator she is definitely the best woman I've heard co commentating on football and much better than quite a few of her male counterparts...Andy Hinchcliffe please take note.
Mixed bag. Felt like a winner earlier on but now the disappointment has settled in a bit. Should have lost so its a bonus point in the end although Brendan's miss was gut wrenching. Feels very samey, we'll win plenty of games but we'll make hard work of it at times too.
Pleased for Aaronson scoring, hopefully that miss won't aggravate the anti yanks too much. Unbeaten at home π
And agree on the commentator.
She certainly knew her stuff and is a huge improvement from Hinchcliffe and Goodman. But then again Peppa Pig would be an upgrade from those two

Couple of thoughts if I may:
“Feels very samey” … yes indeed and suggesting we’ve not made any progress v last season (… yet … early doors … other platitudes are also available).
“Won’t aggravate the anti-yanks” … I couldn’t give a monkeys if Aaronson is from Pluto-cum-Hardy … he’s got to show this season that he can play competitive football … his goal today is a good start and well done to himπ

Boris certainly thinks soπ
I have to say although I'm trying to remain optimistic with a little time to reflect more on what I witnessed Im feeling a bit concerned about our chances with what I think are two glarring issues that I can see hurting us repeatedly over the season unless there is a massive improvement.
First unfortunately Meslier as much as Id like to think he can learn from his mistakes Im not too confident he will and I thought Farke's use of subs was yet again strange and in my opinion they were the wrong options used.
Why he took off Gnonto who in the 2nd half was our most dangerous and likely player to make something happen I do not know and I'm hoping it's not because he's been told to by the owners and we're about to sell Gnonto.
Extremely unlucky today. Should have won by a hatfull. Pompey did well to score on every attempt and seem very adept at time wasting.
Meslier needs to be replaced. Sad, but true. With a quality goalie we would´ve won this comfortably

There was a suspicion that Rodon wasn't fully fit at least for part of the game, he gave away the free kick that led to the second goal and his header was into a dangerous area which resulted in the shot that led to that goal.
All in all, his display and Bogle less than impressive debut meant that side was definitely the weaker side.
Clearly exposes lack of depth in the squad again. Though of course we have more depth at full back on that side than at centre back.
Big couple of weeks ahead.
Good to get that one out of the way. Way too much tension before the game which was heightened by hitting the bar three times in quick succession. Pompey were solid Champo, so we should expect plenty of the same this season. Our best run last season was when we played Rodon and Amps across the back. It’s not too late to go back to it. We will get better as the season settles down. No need to amp up the pressure this early in the season.
Our two biggest problems the last 4 seasons have
been glaring: the bloke in goal and the bloke in the
number 9 shirt. Club and managers have blind
spots for both. One is now done. The other needs
to be replaced. Neither one is good enough.
Meslier was dropped for Robles so it’s not like it can’t be done. Just not convinced Darlow is the answer.

But Darlow shows exactly why we have problem, we’re not really investing in quality backup.
Morning allπ.
Sooo having slept on things, yep, definitely a disappointing start but not withstanding the fact we grabbed a point in the dying seconds (yup, and missed two more with the final kick of the game) … but that 1 point might be the difference between autos and play-offs come next May. We shall seeππ.
… oh, and I do accept we were unlucky with the 3 strikes against the woodwork before our pen … any one of those goes in and we win the game methinks …
The question is, is Rodon and Struiyk a better fit than Rodon and Ampedu?
Yesterday would suggest not but Farke has made Struiyk captain so this partnership will be for the forceeable and Meslier is vice captain so we just have to hope our forwards can score at least 3 or 4 goals per game to cover the potential mishaps at the other end.
I do have serious concerns about Farke's judgement and if things don't improve before the international break would like the owners to try their absolute hardest to get Graham Potter in but things can change quickly and 3 points against WBA and all will be well with the world
again. Fickle, football supporters? You bet we are!!!
I was shocked with how many homeless there were in Vancouver when i went there. The surrounding areas are nice though.
I can’t see Farke being here beyond November, for me, it has an air of inevitability about it. Finished poorly last season, weird subs on Saturday, not changed until 70th minute again. At the moment we have a weaker squad, I hope I am wrong, as I want him to do well, which means the team is doing well, but I feel that, he will be gone come November.
But Darlow shows exactly why we have problem, we’re not really investing in quality backup.
^^^
There is the problem. We don't need to invest in
a back-up. We need to invest in an upgrade starter.
Farke weirdly rates Meslier as the best keeper in
the Championship. If you take just his keeper stats
from last season (and not the defensive unit's stats),
he ranked 18th of 24 keepers.
Then add in the eye ball test, it's clear he's not
good enough. Nor are his baguette wrists.

I kind of question the rationale behind why he is one the captaincy group, Ampadu I get, he comes across as a leader, but you watch the videos from LUTV and there's nothing that you see in Meslier that stands out.
