Thought about Newcastle but their main issue is inability to bring in top players. They would have been huge contenders for top 6 especially with no European distraction

I think City by less than 3 points. Arsenal need a striker.

Liverpool, bit of a treading water season for them.

United, I think they will improve considerably, they’ve had a fairly decent window although I don’t think De Ligt will work, long term though I suspect Yoro and Martinez will be a really good pairing and I like the look of zirkzee.

Spurs - the Europa games will mean we will go into some Prem games under cooked. I still don’t believe Ange has the balance of defence and attack correct. We will score enough to trouble and potentially gain a CL spot

Newcastle - injuries permitting I think will be strong, they have real quality with Botman, Bruno and Isak, no Europe and Howe is a decent manager.

Chelsea - I find them impossible to predict really, they are my wild card, could win the league, could be in a relegation scrap. No one knows the first 11, they probably can’t defend if pre season is anything to go by. Will they get a points deduction?

I think Man U will be a lot better with the signings they've made. It did feel like things were clicking for them at the end of last year performance wise, expect Hoylund to be more consistent and there defence can only be better with the signings they've made.

I think for us we need to freshen up the midfield and attack to go again. It was such a heroic effort last year especially after Christmas but felt like climbing a mountain, I wonder if the squad will have the energy to do that again, though unfortunatly that's what you need to do when competing with City!

Optimistically:

1 - Arsenal
2 - City
3 - Liverpool
4 - Man U
5- Spurs
6- Newcastle
...
14 - Chelsea

United, Arsenal and Newcastle will do as well as Spurs and Chelsea did this year.

Spurs and Chelsea 2022/2023: Top of their CL group
Newcastle and Man U 2023/2024: Bottom of their CL group

I fancy Arsenal for title this year, even more so if they got a striker in. I think City could get stretched with a few injuries this season. Hoping we can make top 4, really feels like a make or break season for ETH.

Slot needs time to settle in, can see them being a little inconsistent. Villa will prob drop a little with added expectation and CL games. Wil be interesting to see if Spurs can continue to improve and bring a bit more defensive solidity. Chelsea could be anywhere and Newc will be thereabouts also.
I think outside the top 2, a bit of a lottery for the next 2 spots

City will be off the pace for the first half of the season and everyone will be saying that they always finish strong in the second half of the season but this season they just won't. Then Guardiola will be off. Arsenal to win it Leverkusen style with City battling it out for top 4 with a bunch of others.

Can we ask the Liverpool fans where Citypool will finish, will it be Joint top or joint 2nd behind arsenal, or will this season be an unmitigated disaster and they finish in joint Europa spots?

Does 5th place get top 4 this season with the new CL format? Or is it the same as last season where 5th place only gets top 4 if PL teams do well in Europe?

Well maybe not you old bean, it won’t be of any interest to Wolves as they continue their eternal battle with Crystal Palace for 11th

City will win the league assuming justice continues to be delayed. The will win the league next season as well to get promotion to the Vanarama premier.

Arsenal haven't improved much this summer but are the most settled team, still think there's a glaring issue at number 9 they need to resolve if they want to win the league.

United finally look to be taking smart decisions, buying top young players moving on guys who've not made the grade, are injury prone, trying to shift those paid more than there value on the pitch. Easier said than done but I can't see them not improving this season.

Liverpool, a huge transition summer in which they've done nothing yet. Still have the core of a top squad but age is catching up on a few of the pillars of their team. Not having Klopp will set them back on its own and I feel like they needed a decent refresh 2/3 new starters and they've been sitting on their hands all summer. Could change if they find their wallet.

Spurs will be in the top 4 battle and could just as easily be in there as not. Placed 5 as Solanke to replace Kane is deeply uninspiring. They're loaded with strikers as famous for their barren spells as their goalscoring ones bar Son.

Villa another one that could make top 4. Not really replaced Luiz and lost their best winger. New signings need to hit the ground running for that to happen so 6th.

The other potential members of the top 6.

Newcastle - Keeping their best players, and Tonali being allowed to play gives them a decent chance of top 6. Signed nobody of any relevance though so need a good season on the injury front to trouble the Top 4. Good chance of top 6, I just give the teams above the edge.

West Ham - Smart transfers, a manager that did a good job previously at Wolves. Weak in the full back positions. Losing Paqueta is a big problem and no sign of a replacement.

Chelsea - Loony town, early indicators the manager might be a clown. An owner out of control, a transfer policy that is madness. If rumours of Felix and Osimhen transpire then it looks a fair bit better. Hell of job to produce something cohesive in the environment they've created though.

People were saying 5th place would get top 4 last season but it didn't happen? What needs to happen this season for 5th place to get top 4?

Teams need to do better, Barry. Thankfully we haven't got United and Newcastle stinking the place out this season.
