Is that a tiny West Ham shirt or a MASSIVE spider?

7 year contract. They've turned into Chelsea.

I work with a West Ham supporter who’s convinced AWB is an excellent defender who just suffered from Man United syndrome where our players do better once they’re away from the club. It’ll be interesting if he does end up being good as he really wasn’t for us.

Anyway, respect to him for his professionalism and working on his game to force himself back into the team when it looked like his career was over. Good luck at WHU, where he'll inevitably rediscover his youth football winger traits and deliver incredible service into the box.

I think he was more or less the same player for us as he was for Palace: one of the best defending against wingers 1 v 1, but not showing a great deal going forward or in build-up. For a team that isn't going to dominate the ball that much and build from the back (like 2019 Palace) that's not such a bad thing. For a team aspiring to the CL places, it's an issue. I suspect AWB would have been a better fit in Moyes' West Ham than Lopetegui's.

He could put in the same level of performance as he has at United and he will get much better PR from press/media/pundits/oppo fans etc...

Wish him all the best.

Interesting to see how West Ham do this season, quite like the look of the business they've done in the summer.

His defending was never really the problem, it was his attacking play that was the issue. He is a great 1 on 1 defender

An honest pro and hope he does well. I can see him being a solid 7/10 performer for West Ham

He was so bad at letting players run past him and switching off mentally. Yes he was very good at recovery tackles once the mistake had been made but he was a liability at times.

Does this read like a bit of a diss to the United squad ?

AWB on joining the Hammers
"I see a team that is in it together, that will push each other to win, and a group that has got each others' backs through thick and thin, so being part of that and having that insurance helps a lot when you are surrounded by a good squad."

Not good enough for where Utd need to be. Good luck to him at West Ham.

Be prepared for Wan-Bissaka to be talked about as the best right-back in England by November, with everyone asking, "Why did Man United sell him when they had so many other areas to address?"

I disagree, always thought he was pretty solid defensively barring a few mistakes which every defender makes at times. It was going forward or recycling the ball he wasn't good and so one footed....... A disaster having him and Antony on the same side.

Decent player but the right call to sell him imo.

posted on 13/8/24

He'll be a very good player for West Ham, especially with either Bowen or Kudus ahead of him on the right.

His biggest issue has always been that he can't strike a ball; crossing, passing, shooting... He's obviously an outstanding tackler, decent defensively generally and pretty fleet-footed and able to get out of tricky situations.

But what he can't do is progress the ball accurately with his passing which it causes issues in build up and means he offers no output in the final third (nor the ability to go into midfield and get on the ball there). For a team expected to be on the front foot that's a problem. For most other teams in the PL it's less of an issue so I expect his best attributes will be more evident and his weaker attributes less of a burden.

Good luck to him - watching him win slide tackles and pocket wide players in one v one situations never got old.

Lindelof, Sancho, and McT/Casemiro next, please!

He is pocketing Rashford when we face them this season. Nailed on just like McT scoring against us if he signs for anyone in the PL.

We can just sub on Sancho so he can beat him in the air at the back post for an easy goal.
