What do these sales do to us?

As someone who has ended up a real Rutter fan, I have to say it looks like his signing overal hurt us on two fronts.

Firstly £35M in bound as potential in Januaey 2023, was clearly the wrong player at the wrong time - his performances when selected and subsequent relegation proved that.

Secondly he was so brilliant last season, his trickery and assist with the Jadon Anthony was one of the best moments ever, - You can't replace that at this level, impossible. When his move is finalised it leaves a massive creative hole. I personally feel he was more influential than Cry, even though he could be frustrating at times.

Rutter was the worst to lose. No way there´s a replacement to be found in two weeks

These sales have clearly demoralised the fan base and I imagine the players that are watching this unfold at close quarters are feeling demoralised too and wondering like all of us wtf is going on and why has there been no sign for a month of new signings?

Why does it take Leeds so long to replace our star
players and invariably with cheap skate options and dilly and dally while our rivals act swiftly?

It's a sorry state of affairs at this moment in time and
not unreasonable to suggest our season's hopes of
promotion could be over in 2 weeks time when the
transfer window shuts and God knows who the owners
have brought in.

Great season last season, bug club, great players, loads of money.

Why oh why weren't players lined up for acquisition, especially replacement players as club clearly knew these were going.

Utter ineptitude, unless, club didnt really want to replace them.

If you were a genuine good hearted honest owner that has the club's best interests at heart knowing fully well how all these star player sales have demoralised the fan base you would speak up and reassure supporters that they are going to do their very best to replace the players that have left as well as strengthen the team and squad with 3 or 4 more good quality new players but we have not had any such statement and this can only make you draw the conclusion they do not care and are utterly heartless ruthless and money driven greedy barstewards that have no respect for the supporters.
If you or I were the owner you would not want the fan base to feel demoralised so until we hear or see any clear evidence of our owners genuinely wanting Leeds and their supporters to have a successful fruitful season you can only think the worst of them and that they are another gifting rinsing regime full of shhyyte.

Probably working on taking as much money out as possible whilst staying in bounds of FFP, installment payments for historic transfers and spinning the narrative to make it look like a series of circumstances beyond their control lead to all this. They should go into politics they have all the right credentials.

Dont forget all three of these deals were sold at a price we was legally bound by.

Who knows how much we would have got in the open market 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yep exactly, how hard is it to say.

"Well, we've been fully in charge a year now and its been quite a ride trying to deal with legacy contract issues that we dearly wished we could have been more involved in to prevent these issues.

The worst is behind us, we've learnt a lot in a short space of time and will not allow these contractual issues to hamstring the club again under our watch.

We've satisfied our previous transfer payment requirements and do have funds to purchase to strengthen our side to give Daniel the best possible opportunity to build on our existing squad to achieve promotion this season.

We have this window and January and we are going for it this season, we owe the fans and we're going to do our best to give you the promotion season you deserve."

Butter is a massive loss, he was just so much fun to have on and off the pitch.

However the deal was 25 rising to 35 and the so in all we are probably looking at a produt of between 15 and 10 million for him, which isn't great, considering how good he is, but it also isn't awful.

Stat I read, and I haven't confirmed it, so I'll hold my hand up if wrong, but apparently we have made the most out of all European clubs when it comes to player sales this transfer window.

So it's now time to put some of that and spend on the five or so player we need.

I'd love 5 with at least one being a marquee signing

Forget the source I’ve no idea how reliable or not they are. But it resonated with me for how much what’s been written aligns with my feelings in the last 24 hours.

Georgi going is a real trigger point for me. Archie & Cry (& others) if satisfying our balance sheets were unavoidable I can reluctantly live with. Now this just feels more pocketing cash than building a promotion capable team.

Big 2nd half of august ahead 👍

The thing that riled me listening to Farke was when asked about Rutter he said he didn't know about the exit clause in the contract when he was apply for the role but knew shortly after.
So, for a year, he's been sitting there holding his breathing hoping that nobody would trigger it, not planning for what would happen if they did.
This is very poor management. It's like letting the kids play near an unexploded ww2 bomb knowing it's there but not doing anything about it hoping that it will never go off.
This is where the metaphor stops working but my god they should have been doing something to dampen some of the damage.

I like the idea his name might be Butter because they've just let Georgi slip through our fingers.

The thing that really makes me angry is that we supposedly sold Gray in order to NOT have to sell anybody else who was key to the team! The money we got for him was supposed to have sorted out our finances.

Why did we sell our crown jewels first when we have no protection for our best players because there are release clauses on them?

Reading we owe Hoffenheim possibly £4.2 M in sell on clause for Rutter.

posted on 16/8/24

It’s just awful planning.

We can’t do anything about them leaving if the clause is triggered but the rest of the issues should have been long solved.

We should have another fullback and another midfielder in way before Summerville or Rutter went. Then okay we can deal with their replacements. Now it feels like a massive job because we have to bring in multiple signings as well as replacing those two.

funny how people saying it was 25 m plus clauses, so we only paid 25 mill and wont have to pay clauses so made 15m profit

I’ve no faith that we will sign anyone at all. We’ll just have to make do with who we have left - and hoping and praying that Ampadu and Struijk don’t go as well. Maybe the 49ers are getting as much money in as possible to pay off some of the debts and then go and sell us to Red Bull? They’ve told so many lies, I wouldn’t put it past them!

I have no enthusiasm for the next game nor the rest of the season now. We are back to the pre-Bielsa days. Sometimes it feels like I only dreamt that we had Bielsa and some success.

posted on 16/8/24

It's sadly and pathetically so so true when most of us see Marcelo Bielsa as the only very rich oasis in a very large desert that is the last 20 years of chronic mismanagement of our beloved club.

When you’ve not got a great coach, it’s hard to get a tune from an average squad.

James and the petulant Gnonto best we have now with little back up, creative wise. Midfield looks woeful.
