I can't completely agree with that. I know the clubs pay the wages and players owe them loyalty.
Still playing for your country is a big deal, something which most players want to do.
Shaw can get injured at any moment. Can’t just put this down to playing at the Euros, and players should always want to play for their national team at a tournament. Not everyone is Ben White.
Shaw is passionate about his country... Good luck trying to get him to retire and not be very bitter about it.
he was injured under the watch of Man Utd though, not England.
Give it up robb, no player is going to miss the euroes even at risk of aggravating injury. Big Pete is wrong, I bet he’d do the same
If this new regime had any huevos they'd pay off whatever is left on his contract today and tell him to do one.
Lol @ "he's sooo important" never heard of a player who missed almost 50% of a clubs games over a decade being soooo important. He needs to binned asap.
I think the club would have been OK with him going to the Euros. I'm sure the thinking would have been that it's good for him to get some minutes before the new season starts.
We can't moan really when we have players that are good enough to play for their country in the squad.
This is also Luke Shaw we're talking about. He may well have got injured had he not gone to play for England.
There are some players that frustrate me when they're injured and you don't think they have the heart for it but, to be fair to Shaw, he could have bloody lost a leg in 2015 so I'm willing to cut him some slack when he's injured. It should be up to the club really to get someone in so that we don't have to rely on him.
he got injured before whilst at Man Utd, he got injured when he came back to Man Utd.
Maybe he should retire from club football and focus solely on international football?

Can you talk us through exactly how that would help us? In your scenario, we still don't have an available left back or any money generated to buy one.

All you have to do is watch us play to see the difference that he makes to our play/balance. We are much better with him in the team. That said, I wouldn't be against selling him for get a more reliable replacement in.
MUDD was right about Shaw from the start, although mostly for the wrong reasons.
We need to replace him next season. He is no use to us being injured all the time.
Can’t blame him for wanting to represent his country though.
