think the only question mark in the line up is whether Bentancur or Gray start as the 6
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well apparently the whole squad Is available so probably Bentancur.

In fact we will probably get a good idea of Ange’s preferred first 11 tonight.

There is a narrative around Ange that he wins trophies in his second season.

Take the cups plus Europe seriously and with a bit of luck we could land one
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, I did an article about it!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s was so memorable

I think he is going to take the Europa seriously, can’t exactly put my finger on why I feel like that, but I think he will fancy it on his CV. I’ve said before, the new format is set up very well for the better sides to make the Quarters. 8 well spaced group games, even draw, top 8 skip the first KO round, the top 8 are seeded for the last 16 - if you finish 1st in the group you play the lowest ranked remaining side and so on. Top 8 get the second leg at home.

If we go for it properly, we should be making the quarters , with no CL drop outs we have a decent chance from there. The quarters are in April - at which point we know if our league season is good, bad, ugly and we can decide on how to proceed from there
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In theory, it should be the easiest trophy to win out of the four competitions we are in as it is the only one which doesn’t contain City, Liverpool or Arsenal. And I’d say it’s more coveted than the Carling Cup.

We should stand a good chance of winning it if we take it seriously.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spot on, there are some very good sides in it but none on that Liverpool, City level.

The top teams have a clear path to the quarters should they take it seriously and from there it will be very difficult - but we would be strong contenders and evenly matched against any of the other top sides

The Bissouma episode would have upset plans no doubt

Should be 3 wins from our first 5 games, I think that is a fair demand given the fixtures.

To get a clean sheet would be a great sign as well. If we continue with that leaky defence, it will catch up with us no matter what we do on the other end of the pitch.

No Odobert tonight - work permit not finalised yet, which seems crazy seeing as he is moving from Burnley, I know it’s the far frozen north but the last time I checked it was still the same country.

We honestly could not have hand picked a better 2 opening fixtures, I don’t care what anyone says, this is as easy as it gets in this league and failure to get 6 points will not bode well for our league campaign.

And please no one label me arrogant - realistically can you think of an easier opening 2 fixtures? An injury ravaged Leicester side starting a kid up front, a manger who hasn’t got to grips with that side yet, and a squad that is worse than the one they competed in the Championship with.

Then Everton - who always start seasons slowly, absolutely jumped at the weekend at home by Brighton, Dyche having a sly dig at their fans, no money, their best outfield player is currently injured and linked to their biggest rivals, Dyche refusing to play any of the newer signings, 39 year old Ashley Young considered to be their best option at RB and now he is suspended - up against Son.

Ange’s job should be in danger if we don’t have 6 points come Saturday night

I wouldn't go as far as that after 2 games, probably best to give him a few games and see how he does then, cause we could drop points to one of those teams but then make up for it against a team we're not expected to, like Newcastle away.

Let's wait and see after that little spell of tougher fixtures have been played. We might alternately go ahead and beat these easy teams and then get convincingly beaten against Arsenal, Newcastle and United, and that would then bear a similarity to the end of last season's form.

Hope we don't look to deceive as a lot of pundits are giving us a chance to get CL this season.

We have a nucleus of players that is very good but also very much inexeperienced.

The good thing is it is better to have young players because they are physically able to run and fear less opponents.

There is an unspoken rule between Spurs fans is not to discuss what should happen should Ange fails to get CL and/or trophy this season.
Almost like we don't want to think about it.

Good feeling about tonight. Leicester don't have much up top but they'll probably score from a set piece. But Spurs should have far too much for them overall.

Leicester 1-3 Spurs. Maddison (old club innit), Son and a debut goal for Solanke

Calm down dear!

I would fear for us big time if we lost either game - the 2 after are our annual whooping at St Geordie park, and then Farteta and the bottlers beating us.

Thanks for clearing that up Dave - none of us were aware.

The point is, he was cleared to carry on playing for Burnley - but here we are 3 days later and he can’t get a work permit to play for a club in the same country. Beyond pointless bureaucracy - what would you say the reason for this is???

Does it count as pessimistic if I am essentially saying these should be nailed on wins?

I don’t think pessimistic was used correctly here

I expect

Leicester - Win
Everton - Win
Newcastle - loss by at least 2
Arsenal - Draw
Brentford - single goal win
United - Loss
Brighton - Draw

Think you're reading too much into it mate.... 4 games into a 38 game schedule.... Its a marathon. We had a brilliant first 10 games last season and still managed to fack up top 4.... Take a deep breath. Spurs will be decent this year and with a bit of luck, smart decisions/ tactics might just surprise ya.

Ange said it himself.... We are much better prepared than this time last year (new manager, new style of play, Kane leaving/no replacement and tons of deadwood in the squad).

I'm not expecting trophies galore, but I expect us to be competing at a high level on multiple fronts and playing good football

So take my point - Ange saying how much better prepared we are. Zero major injuries. Everything running great.

Meanwhile at Leicester - no Vardy, no Coady, no Daka. Stories about how unprepared they are for this season. Cooper showing signs of restlessness. Awful pre season.

Then Everton - just look at that car crash.

Imagine if you will, a world where we don’t win these 2 games - absolute guarantee of a shiete season.

If we do win both - we probably still don’t know if we’re any good as these 2 sides will be bottom 5 come the end of the season and personally I don’t just think Leicester will drop, I think they will be rock bottom unless another side like Everton get a massive points deduction

Of course we should both both but football isnt played on paper.

The outcome of our 1st 2 games will have zero baring on how the season plays out... Exactly as the first 10 of last year didnt.... Too many variables over a long season

indeed - but to be clear, I am backing us to win convincingly tonight. I am the opposite of pessimistic, I think we win both these first two somewhat handsomely - although Dyche might make that second game a slog

All foreign workers need a work permit which allows them to work for the said company that employs them, if they change employers they need a new work permit, unless you arrive on a boat of course.
This situation applies in most countries around the world
So his work permit was issued for him to work for Burnley FC now he needs one to work for Tottenham, perfectly normal procedure
