Yeah not much to add, brilliant win and a good omen for the season.
Tross surely deserves to start but he does seem to be better as an impact sub!
Arteta says we need 23 outfield players, currently at 20 with Kiwior, Nketiah and Nelson.
Did say we won't get there, but if those 3 go we are a mile off!
Little harsh on Partey btw, thought he was good. Rogers can run round anyone on his day, had no trouble with Rice either!
Clearly he's not competing in the 200m sprint anytime soon, but a very composed presence in the middle, theres good reasons he starts ahead of Jorgy
Gabs like i say, Cala will get his chance there I'm sure

Partey is a weird one cos each game he's showing the stuff he offers that Rice can't do, but also showing up his shortcomings. I think he needs to be managed very carefully this season.
Partey was crap up until the goal, by far our worst player. It’s worrying that Arteta seems to trust him. Also annoying Nwaneri got no minutes even when the game was done.
Apart from that a good win, wish Ode got the third to really rub it in
I would have bitten your arm off for a draw today.
Can't really disagree with the OP.
Well, everything except Partey. I thought he was brilliant today. He might have got absolutely skinned on a couple of occasions. But he held his station perfectly and topped it off with a very well taken goal.
I feel like we look more likely to unlock defences with Partey playing but we also have a couple of moments a game where he looks really vulnerable when the opposition get around him.
Raya is really starting to show his worth he's making saves at important times in matches. Few areas of the team are a concern the left handside being one I think the role Trossard is playing is very important but I don't think we can deny right now we have a problem with Martinelli. With Merino looking likely to be done I think we may do one more deal ideally has to be a wide player someone who can play both sides we need meaningful cover for Saka it's clear Nelson just ain't it. A forward would be nice given as we can just see you just cannot rely on Jesus. Lastly it was nice to give Villa a reality check we should of done that last season the amount of chances we missed. Personally though Villa were awful in their outlook your playing at home and your just pretty much playing on the counter you can't do that if you want to be a big team and it's alway nice to see Martinez mess up.

Yep agree with you and Gillespie Road above.
Partey is vulnerable but he adds something that Rice and Jorgy dont!

Here is the action
Great win at difficult place
Partey is finished physically. Those injuries have destroyed him. Jorginho is also good on the ball but even worse physically. We definitely won’t compete in Europe with a poor state of no 6 options but it may just be enough for the title.

Assumption would be the big game lineup is Rice in DM, Merino in CM and Ode in CAM
Chris 👍
And hopefully Merino (whom we’ve apparently been linked to this summer) can strike up a good partnership with Martinelli, which will help him rediscover his form, and make our left hand side more potent!
If we can do that, Ode and Saka should benefit hugely.
Regards the squad, hopefully Jesus’ injury really amplifies the need for another attacking option being brought in before Friday.
Even then I’d still probably keep Nelson. At least until January.
This was an intense game and a massive win in our favour this time. It wasnt nice and comfortable but we grind it out and individual class shows again.
Yeah Partey separates opinions. I havent seen him playing badly after all. He had good moments but also when his power is gone weak moments. Yesterday he had a very difficult opponent against him in Rodgers which looked like a quality player,
Jesus indeed is a concern and a liability and is missing out for too many games. Same as Tomiyasu.
Yeah think as well we need a striker/wide player especially on Saka`s side to support him.
Game yesterday showed we have a lot to improve. Some of our players looked tired. Three points despite is a very good result so nothing to complain about.
Partey played quite well, I don't know what you were watching, he struggled to handle Rogers but then so did everybody in our side.
Rice looks physically knackered, I think he needs a break.
It was his job to "handle Rogers". Look at the Saliba last ditch tackle and see Partey 😂😂 He is so washed, and his goal doesn't change that. Chashing shadows at a jogging pace and losing possession so.much isn't the sign of a good DM
But he scored, DJ. Which is why he would’ve made Garth Crooks’ team of the week. And if it’s good enough for Garth…
Garth is dead. Did he make Deeneys XI?
