Yep, no wonder BR was effectively giving our “recruiting” both barrels yesterday, for the 3 windows since he’s been back. It’s even bigger madness this time, given we’ve known for 3 months we had CL cash guaranteed, and also on the back of the previous 2 shambolic windows. We’ve also known for ages we’ve a potentially season-defining OF game this weekend, which we’re going into with a weaker squad than the sub-standard one that ended the last campaign, having just sold our POTY. Do we EVER learn lessons?

Meanwhile, we’re a CCV injury away from a CB pairing of Scales and Welshy in the CL, given BR clearly doesn’t fancy Nawrocki. Staggering.

I should add Trusty from Sheffield Utd to that list......Wilder has said there are several bids in for the player.....hence it's all gone quiet on that.....is he a CB?

we just had to hand Norwich 9 million for Idah, which i'm not convinced he is worth, because we didn't get an option on him.

we're slow, late, and our signings last season show how bad the scouting system is, if there even is one. probably just hear from an agent pal of the board and go with what they offer.

I think he's decent but that's a hefty fee. That's the kind of money he could be worth but don't think he's there yet.

i'd say 9 includes add ons, maybe 6-7 upfront.

Still think we’re shopping in the wrong market there TBH. Even if he turns out to be good, chances of a guy on Barca’s books wanting to stick around in Scottish football beyond his “shop window” loan spell? Slim at best IMO. Time will tell, if he actually comes.

We must shop in the loan market as well as improve on our very successful model of player trading. Also gives us the sense of what these types of players are really worth.

What I mean by that is upping the ante and instead of messing around in the £3-5m bracket, be aiming for the £6-10m market.

We likely do try and include that, but that decision is held by the club who is loaning out the player and we have to recognise that at the time of the loan they may just want their player to get game time. For us to get a decent player even for a year at a relatively low cost, it makes perfect sense and may even help us attract other better players.

I'm all for it, although i agree having an option to buy is far more preferable.

I thikn the option to buy is one of the best options to look at it especially for the higher priced targets of 5m plus. Better to pay a bit extra in loan fees to gauge the players attitude and how he settles before splashing the cash, maybe not so cost effective short term but long term can show more effective conversion rate of successful purchases

i'm saying that like it matters, look at bernardo, ended up paying half of the fee, which may then look ridiculous if he is a massive success and we sell for 20 million and have to give away 30%.

i dont think idah is worth the money, but its spent and we only had one striker, again due to the appalling lack of planning
