PL are fuming - oh well

I'm sure other clubs care though. Those that may get relegated this season due to Leicester's cheating. Clubs like Ipswich, Everton, Southampton, Man Utd. It's hardly fair on them is it?

Hey! and 115 FC.

We're still up for another points deduction though aren't we?

Having said which, this is very good news indeed for our hopes of avoiding the drop. Perhaps will go a long way to elevate us up the most hated club league table though!

Are you forgetting we got relegated because Evertons case wasn’t fast tracked and dealt with in the same season? Cuts both ways - Everton literally stayed up by breaching the rules and not getting punished until the following season. The PL changed the process because of it

I think it makes it hard for EPL to try and work with the EFL to levy a 2nd deduction for last seasons EFL breach. We can and likely will try and make the same argument

Mind you - if we get relegated the EFL will throw the book at us. We’ve lived to survive another day but the club has to avoid relegation

Think we a bit lucky, but seems such a mess all round.
The premier league will probably change the rules now and could open a whole can of worms.
Great news for us though.

We've already won the argument that the EFL do not have authority to charge us over Premier League offences. Unless they are able to find us guilty for breaching FFP last year we're in the clear. It's my understanding that selling KDH and Maresca compensation cleared us of any charge in relation to last season

It is so messed up though because, let's say that Everton and Forest didn't overspend two years ago and Leicester survived instead of one of them. The roles would then be reversed and Leicester would be punished instead of them.

I wish Leicester's legal team or someone similar could expose a damning loophole or an illegal restraint of trade clause in these EUFA backed PSR rules that gets rid of them and let's all clubs spend what they want if they have rich enough owners to do so and if they
stupidly and carelessly eff themselves up financially
and go bankrupt and into administration then so be it
but I personally think all these financial hoops clubs
have to jump through now only benefit the existing fat
cat elite clubs that already have their feet under the
table and don't want their comfortable position
threatened and weakened by a new rich kid on the block.

So I’m talking about breaching the EFLs much stricter allowable losses for the season we were in the championship. According to finance experts, it’s unlikely we were compliant last season even with the KDH sale and Maresca compensation.

No one can know for sure until everything is published but I’d be surprised if we kept within such stringent limits. I think the KDH sale is about managing how far we may have breached, but let’s see.

£120'000 fine for appealing the penalty 🤔
So it begins 🧐

Apparently we’re still in for a points deduction for the EFL breach because we were registered as a PL club when we submitted our accounts for last season. So we fall into the PLs rolling 3 year calculation and finance analysis have said even with the KDH sale we aren’t compliant

I don’t think it’s over - I just think we’ve avoided the double points combo

What a mess this sorry ownership has landed us in

That's not such good news but there's now a strong argument for mitigation as we sold our best player from last year to try and reduce the breach. It will be interesting to see how this pans out.

I might even raise a glass at the weekend to our lawyers - never thought I'd write that! Too soon to be happy about it I suspect.

Now all we need is for Coops to get the right balance between (and failing) to keep a clean sheet, and actually threatening the opposition goal.

Incidentally, is there potential for an appeal by the EPL against the headline ruling?

According to talk sport no they can't appeal

I've stopped being lazy and had a look on the internet myself. Contrary to what Talk Sport may have said, the BBC have reported that 'Technically, the Premier League could appeal, but it is unlikely because the bar is so high on what they need to prove'.

So, hopefully they won't appeal and we just have to worry about any future points deduction. Oh, and the minor matter of getting some wins to give us a chance of avoiding relegation!

Yeah I mean right now I’d argue having Top and Rudkin at the helm is effectively the equivalent of a 10 point deduction this season as we’ve got to try and win with squad half assembled under a different manager and patched together with some mixed signings this season we didn’t need to make (Skipp, Ayew)
