I do think he will go with havertz in MF and trossard/jesus as the CF
If Partey didn't look like he had aged 10 years over the summer, I would have been happy with jorginho and him starting but it's too risky against Spurs MF
If I'm ever not in the mood for rice I just go for roti tbh, or a naan if I'm at a restaurant actually
Think he will likely go Havertz in the middle, but think losing out on his presence up top will be a huge miss for us. Just think there is too much risk with all of the other options. Actually wouldn't mind seeing Zinchenko step in there, but can't see Arteta going for that.
On Partey, I actually thought he had a very good second half for us against Brighton. First half he was poor but seemed to step up when we went down to 10 men.
Martinelli Trossard Saka
Havertz Partey Odegaard
It's possible Sterling could get a start especially as he won't be going off with England so Arteta can work with him over the international break.
If Partey was the Partey of 2 seasons ago then Jorginho coming in would be less of an issue however we need an engine in there and Havertz has that.
Not Trossard up front. He disappears far too often to have an impact in a very intense game. For me,
------------ Martinelli ----------
Sterling --------------- Saka
------ Havertz ---- Ode ------
------------ Partey -----------
We dominated both away games against Newcastle (60% possession Arsenal) and Villa (62% possession Arsenal) so Havertz was very good in midfield. Jesus's lack of clinical finishing was the issue, and tbf they hadn't played together enough to combine very well, which shouldn't be an issue now.
We assume Rice in no.8 position gives us a more solid base, but he has a bad habit of retreating into a DM position at the expense of possession when we are ahead. So Havertz in midfield is not a bad idea!

We know what spurs are going to do, so we just need to sit back and wait for them to give us some openings.
We've not scored from a set piece yet, and vicario still looks dodgy defending them. Jover needs to earn his corn this international break.
One of our main set piece takers is not available
We need to go super aggressive against your midfield, without Rice Arsenal are still a side that can be bullied and physically intimidated.
Bentancur and Maddison with Romero launching into Odegaard at every opportunity please
I would like to see Timber for Rice and Calafiori on LB.
I expect Havertz in midfield, Jesus will be fit as Arteta suggested and Saka on the right.
What I dont want to see is Jorghi, Partey and Odegaard in midfield.
The MF position is very important, can't play timber there

Since when? Ben white has also played there in the past, doesn't mean your going to play him there v spurs.
Reality is, Timber will be practically operating as MF player anyway with havertz occupying space on the left sided flanks
It’s impossible to replace Rice, whether he’s playing for England or Arsenal. Very unique player
Timber has never played CM in his career, think GT has been watching his twin Q.
It's the sort of game where we probably don't need to be that creative in terms of midfield play as we saw in the previous game all it took was one straight ball and we were in behind them. We just need someone who is disciplined who can cover the required ground. Obviously that is if we are going to play a similar way as before in that we just keep them honest and just wait for the mistake we know they are going to make. If he decides he wants to control the posession then obviously we are going to need something else in midfield.
I don't like the idea of any of the defenders playing in midfield. White, Timber, Califiori and Zinchenko are all more than capable I'm sure and step into those areas comfortably but it's different being the extra man stepping into midfield compared to being a midfielder.
I actually completely forgot about Jesus and if he's fit, him up top with Havertz in midfield will likely be how we line up.
Would say Zinchenko is a midfielder playing in defence at the moment, so a move to his more natural role may help him and us.

Yeah true, I do remember wanting to try him there when Havertz was ambling about in the middle of the park at the start of last season when we looked quite turgid. Given he plays there half the time anyway when leaving his left back spot. Also plays there for Ukraine too.
I think this down to our system. The left no.8 is tasked to press and add a presence in the box, and the right no.8 is the creative player who sits just outside the box. The no.6 drives from deep and has to be someone who reads/intercepts/tempo control type player. Zinny is creative and reads the game and can definitely control tempo, but he can't press. I think his style is similar to a more attacking version of Jorginho.
Havertz is actually very good at pressing. Merino has elite stats of doing that in Liga and Rice can certainly press.
