After the scintillations of our last game there was a bit of "after the lord mayor's show" about this one. There were some great moments in the first half and the goal was a fine one (that Kenzo is such a clever player!) but the second half had its sloppy moments albeit interspersed with some excellent defending. For all Cardiff's clever approach play they really offered (or were not allowed to offer) anything.

What spoiled the game for me was the pointless booking of Ebou and the almost immediate threats from the ref thereafter which had the effect of shutting Ebou down. Coupled with Ozoh's injury the other effect was to disrupt our midfield entirely.

The classic moment of the whole game was Ebou's late rapid surge out of defence in a race (opposite direction) with the Cardiff goalie with a goal looking certain yet Ebou somehow contrived to put the ball wide. Such a good job that it did not matter in the end!

My MOM was (just) Kenzo who oozes class and cleverness.

Goudmijn in the Championship reminds me of Didz in League One.

Heb I thought you'd gone to a tax haven.

Isn't Lewis a tax haven?

If we are not careful we will start to look a good team.

Well I thought Cardiff were a tough team - as I expected them to be. They were certainly no pushovers although we defended them well and limited them to few opportunities.
It also appeared that Cardiff came into the game more when ozoh went off.
Overall we didn't create a huge amount of chances...but I thought 1 0 was a fair result as we were very difficult to break down. Equally I can't remember Cardiff creating many / any chances.
Again I thought there were 11 MOM's
Well done again Derby against difficult opposition.
Cheers Terry. UTR

Very nice to see Heb back.

I thought Cardiff tried hard enough but never laid any sort of a glove on us. They had close to zero creativity. We had some terrific play in the first half but Ozoh and Adams never quite got the stranglehold that they had against Brizzle. Ozoh in particular was a notch or two down on last time out, but having said that we became more shapeless after his injury and seemed content enough to see it out.

Kenzo produced some moments in the first half that made you gasp. In a good way. He can see passes which those watching can’t, and that’s a rare talent. Of course the biggest gasp was reserved for Adams’ effort at the death, but the less said about that the better.

A scruffy one-nil. Take the points and on we go.

Talking of intelligent players, I see Sibley was a bench warmer again yesterday for Oxford.

Evening all,

Beautiful weather over the weekend and Oxford really is a lovely place to spend it when the sun is out. Great wedding, feeling a tad rough today!

Incredible result yesterday, Derby County of old world not have won that. Any club on a bad run usually finds us as the club to bend over and offer win that helps build their momentum. Fabulous to see the squad grind out the result, let the opposition know we're not going to give you an easy game and get the all important 3 points.

Saw the counter attack and great opportunity for Adams to make it 2-0 and that was a horrible miss, think he just panicked as he the player closed him down , dragging that shot wide.

Encouraging to read our Dutch player is growing in confidence and showing more signs of being the playmaker this team will need. Not watched the highlights, will wait until the head is less sore to appreciate the passing masterclass.

One player that deserves more credit than he's currently getting and has had a new lease of life this season is Elder. So different to last season and really showing the class ( and more ) that we were informed he had. Really pleased for him, hopefully the fans will be more vocal to recognise his impact too.

Whoever it was that played as a makeshift LB / LWB and has moved on , their loss really hasn't been felt.

Yes Elder is surely our most improved player this season. I’m a fully paid-up member of the Fozzy Fan Club but Elder is keeping him out on merit and comfortably at that. He has been so solid in every aspect of his game. A very good post-match interview yesterday too, seems like he has a decent head on his shoulders.

Incredible.

5 games in and Stoke City sack their manager. Hasn't even been afforded 12 months in the role. Schumacher's achievements at Plymouth and the fact he's highly thought of I can see him taking over one of the bigger clubs in L1 (Bolton, Barnsley, Wigan etc ..)
