Great post Jonty, can’t disagree with any of that. I feel that Farke will be gone by Christmas, I think the window was awful and if DF does go the owners need to take their share of the blame. Early days, but unless DF changes his tactics or someone else comes in, but, who? I can’t see us being top 2 at all.
Not sure Farke makes it to Xmas, CASTRO.
I'm starting to think he's got a handful of games.
This squad in the hands of a better, tactical
manager could fly. Farke's a football handbrake.
Yes fair/true assessment pretty much what most people saw yesterday although the pen incident I do think was a clear penalty because Worral went through the back of Solomon to get the ball as well as taking him out in the process which okay the ref has one look at it and also
the linesman too but surely they could see the Burnley
defender desperately and illegally going through the
back of the Leeds player?
Makes you wonder whether these officials forget or just
don't know all the rules of the game but that aside I
certainly agree on the Joseph point and reckon he's in
danger of becoming another Gelhardt if he doesn't get
quickly back to sticking guilt edged chances away with
hell of a lot more composure than he showed yesterday.
Sorry but I would really like our owners to eff off and
hand the reigns of power over to Red Bull as I just don't
trust a word they say and Kinnear especially infuriates
me with his lame justifications for key player targets that
were either not interested in joining us or the club
wouldn't cough up the extra £5 million or so out of their
very handsome £100 million player sale profits to secure
that player....It's all complete BS.
Farke unfortunately as others have repeatedly stated
does not or will not learn from last seasons clear game
management errors and team selection misjudgements
which is putting it politely and not forgetting his
extremely tiresome stubborn and blinkered approach
with no plan B I see no longterm future for him at Leeds
and would like him to be replaced asap but I doubt with
our current mob in charge that will happen until they exit the building.
I'm starting to become quite disillusioned with watching
the same old script play out in our games against our
supposed promotion rivals where DF is nearly always
outwitted and as you correctly say Jonty his Norwich
promotions were so heavily reliant on a prolific forward
in Puki that ultimately with Leeds not having someone similar the very best I can see this Leeds side achieving
under Farke's guidance is a play off spot and we all
know how guttingly disappointing that usually ends up.
Also just when we all witness something truly magical
and Paul Gasgoine like in the way Gnonto played in
midfield against Shef Wed, Farke decides not to deploy
Gnonto like that again which really does make me
wonder and question whether the bloke is clueless.
Anyway I'm also finding less and less enthusiasm to
watch Leeds live and thankfully our next 2 games are
not being televised live by Sky so I can at least have a
break from continuelly and ridiculously getting myself
worked up over a game of football and insanely swearing at the telly for a brief period at least when yesterday's tribute reminds us there's a lot more important things in life to concentrate on.
If bamford had of missed that chance, there would be army of fans outside his house with pitchforks.
but Joseph will score goals, his all round is very good, and improving rapidly.
Joseph scores that, different game.
Solomon doesnt slip, different game
willy scores, different game
Pen given, different game
skum b@stard gets second yellow, different game.
The big moments went against us, some self inflicted, some bad refereeing.
Second half, and it was too stop start, killed all momentum, by poor reffing but we had to try to rise above that.
Thought subs were actually too early, too wrong and too many.
Disappointed, but id be surprised if Burnley finish above us.
Good points above👍.
My take on things … so, we’re two points better off than at this stage last season … but we missed out on autos by six points. Based on that very crude analysis, we’ve got to pick up the pace to give ourselves the chance of autos at the end of the season. Yes, long way to go (blah, blah, blah) but to nick a Chinese proverb … a 1000-mile journey begins with 1 step.
I’ve been very vocal about the 49ers/Kinnear et al will be judged on their actions this season (versus last) and if they get it wrong again, they need to feel the full force of the fans’ ire. I remain hopeful that we will get it right this season.
I know it may be an excuse but, the international break, we did have a lot of our squad away, not able to train together and travelling and playing a few more games.
Contrast that with Burnley, who I know were bedding in a lot of new players but, I believe had around four internationals in their squad, and didn't bring one of those on until late in the game.
And I know it's just an excuse.
But for once I'm happy to give the guys a free and not be too critical.
Oh and theDonn, I cannot be bothered to go to your post, come on man, not Meslier's fault we lost you cannot blame him for everything it fundamentally unfair.
WBA top with efficient well drilled tactics that are certainly not pleasing on the eye although Mowett scored a couple of crackers, but get the job done with a coach in my opinion far superior and flexible in game management to Farke and to me look nailed on to finish top 6 and mighty close to top 2.
You then add in Burnley, Shef Utd, Sunderland, Boro,
Luton and dark horses Blackburn, Coventry and Watford
and I struggle to believe DF has what it takes to get us
automatically promoted unless he goes back and looks again at Gnonto's performance at Shef Wed and picks him to play in the middle and then I see a different dynamic vibrant exciting Leeds United able to dominate and put our opponents to the sword.
I hope I'm wrong but when you see how professionally
WBA dealt with a plucky but average Championship
Pompey side we incredibly only just scraped a point against at home the signs don't look very promising but we'll see if Mr Farke can have an epiphany and realise the exciting potential of these players if utilised correctly in our next 2 games and the team can get back in the
race and restore a lot of supporters confidence, mine
included, in Farke's abilities to inspire his troops to great
things this season.
I actually thought Firpo has been great defensively thos season. Poor going forwards so far!
If the 49ers alarm bells over Farke's ability aren't
going off already, then it'll be a long, long season.

Looked OK defensively I agree and there has been a noticeable drop off in people on facebook saying he cannot defend (though I am sure they are still out there).
Not sure I have noticed any major issues on the attacking prowess.

Theres been a few instances where hes drifted inside rather than staying out wide and delivering a cross. Not sure if thats a Farke tactic or he does that himself. Just means we lack a bit of width at times as the 2 wingers also drift inside
Frustrating watch to say the least. Apart from the 2 gilt edge chances missed, real difficulty breaking down a disciplined defence.
Not going to overreact, going to see where we are after 10 games.
I don't see a Leicester or an Ipswich, and will be astonished if second place gets anywhere near 96 points this season.
Rumours afoot albeit from the social media grapevine that Farke has 4 more games before the next international break to convince the owners not to replace him which if true must mean a replacement has already been identified and is on standby.
So the next 4 games are Cardiff away Coventry at home
Norwich away and Sunderland away which I think Farke
needs a minimum of 10 points to avoid the chop.
I'm not confident in Leeds yielding that many points if
Farke continues to set the team up the way he is and
makes his usual poor decisions over his use of subs so I
think he's highly likely to be gone soon as for me 7 or 8
points is all I'm seeing from those 4 games.
Obviously Saturdays defeat was a big catalyst in these
rumours surfacing as the owners would not have
enjoyed entertaining their VIP friends and letting them
witness a damp squid of a home defeat and them not
getting to hear the Elland Road atmosphere at it's finest
I'm sure they were promised.
* Damp Squib not squid I meant but also to add I think possibly 8 points from the next 4 games may be okay in terms of Farke surviving the chop but we shall see.
Replacement is Southgate LOL
Lose at home to Shef Utd the first game after the international break on the Friday night and Farke will surely face the axe unless we've won the 4 previous games and then yes it may be in jest to suggest Southgate but he still lives in Harrogate and that scenario wouldn't surprise me at all.

I agree with you on this, Dennis. We had more than half of the team away on international duty - Firpo, Gruev, Ampadu, Rodon, Solomon, Joseph, Gnonto, Aaronson. This was an ideal time for Burnley to play us.
That said, the familiar concerns about Farke's inability to make the right subs at the right time, and his inflexibility in his style of play, are limiting our ability to change matches and rescue points from losing positions. We were so good at this earlier last season. We are looking pretty toothless at the moment.
Worryingly for me, we have only managed 8 points from a run against some of the poorer teams in the league. How are we going to do against the better teams in our next half a dozen fixtures?
Excellent post, Jonty.
