Staying fresh for that s*try China tournament 18-20 Dec.. He's hardly played.. He'll be rusty... He'll be out of the top 16 after the Crucible if he doesn't watch it... He'll play even less then & probably quit

The Glasgow venue (the Emirates) is an athletics hall and is not that close to the city centre, it was a terrible venue for snooker. I went once and saw Slowby vs Gilbert in the semi.

This one in Edinburgh is a bit better, the hall/arena is more enclosed but it is in a leisure centre (though its brand new), and it is a bit closer to the centre.

I went a couple years ago and ticket sales were good, particularly in the evening. Although you had all the big boys playing. If they dont turn up, neither will the fans.

It is probably the worst of the home nations events.

I mean the Glasgow venue was only a couple of miles out of the City Centre, so 'hardly out in the stix', and there is free parking, but I mean there was lucky to be 100 people attending the final.

Perhaps if they put it at one of the SEC venues in Glasgow, that would get numbers up, but I really do think it's more to do with the time of year - people just spending their money on other things.

The likes of Ronnie, Judd and Williams pulling out doesn't help either.

My point about the Glasgow venue is that there isnt much going on outside it, its quite industrial/residential. The Edinburgh one is better as it is closer to bars/restaurants etc, the WST partnered up with a Brewery a short walk away, so ticket holders could get a discount on meals/beer between sessions which i took advantage of.

The SEC venues is better located, Finnieston is a good area for bars/restaurants, more going on in general.

As you say its likely a combination of factors, but think ticket sales have picked up since the move to Edinburgh.

The Hawk puts out Higgins 4-3

Rubbish. Cue ball control hopeless, and the usual 1 shot that goes wrong costs him in the end.
