I didn't realise watching live but it seems there was absolutely not enough time in between Oliver blowing his whistle and the contact with Trossard's foot for Trossard to totally pull out because he had already gone to strike it.
If you watch closely you can see Trossard actually tries to react to the whistle and to not follow through with his strike but Oliver got what he wanted.
The emotions are different when you're actually there.
You ought to try it sometime.
Have been to plenty of matches thanks
Don't put off that Specsavers appointment though.
Could celebrate a great point away but instead manage to make the home team like they won. The Arsenal way

Great display but twice now we have dropped two points in games we could have won due to silly sending offs. Rice’s sending off could be put down to misunderstanding the rule but there’s no excuse for Trossard it was just stupid, Arteta needs to get a hold of this

Actually, there is an excuse.
His first yellow was super-soft.
His second, he had already gone to strike the ball and even attempts to pull out from striking it but it's too late because the whistle goes around 0.5 seconds before he makes contact.
I'm more annoyed with him for the actual foul, barging into the back of Silva but that would usually only be a warning, certainly when the first yellow was so soft.

The dirty rascal adding time when a player goes down for 3 minutes within the 7 minutes of added time. Utterly ridiculous...

I wonder where anyone would learn that behavior
The Trossard second yellow was reminiscent of the van Persie one at the Nou Camp but fine it is what it is. If that's a yellow card because you want to apply the letter of the law then fine. Don't then tell us it's about common sense and not having a negative impact on a game when it suits and then choose letter of the law when it suits.
I don't think it's the letter of the law to give someone a second yellow, after a soft first yellow when the whistle is blown half a second before he makes contact with the ball and he's already gone to strike it before the whistle.
Van Persie also said the whistle was so far away from him and the stadium was so loud he couldn't even hear it. But you'll never see another player, besides an Arsenal player getting sent off for those things. Same as Martinelli getting two yellows from Oliver.

Can’t understand why Harland didn’t get a card for throwing the ball at the back of Gabriel’s head after they equalised

This is what I mean though. They talk about letter of the law when it suits a silly or soft decision but then they talk about referee discretion and common sense for other things. Like not booking Doku.
We are never going to get consistency but I think common sense should apply. The game was ruined by the decision to send Trossard off. I've heard people saying it was a great game but the second 45 minutes must have been boring for everyone.
Trossard yellow as with rice is dumb from both ref and player. They’ve probably been told pre season they’re clamping down on disrupting play, so the players ideally should be more cautious. But it’s an action you’d do without thinking much, out of a bit of frustration. It’s dumb from the ref because these instances are just very nit picky, it’s not really effecting the game much at all, and I think if all fans were truly unbiased they’d agree it’s not worth sending a player off for that. Fair enough if they’re taking the pîśs with it, but the action is pretty inconsequential on the game. So just give the player a talking to. It’ll be the sort of rule that will just be forgotten about in a month. It’s already applied incredibly inconsistently
