By all accounts his Celtic side played well and gave it a go in the champions league, ultimately finished bottom of group
As per his record, I imagine he will lead the team to some decent wins in Europe. But ultimately, when it REALLY matters, we will lose against the better sides.
Celtic were usually in the UCL, so in fairness they were one of the more average to poor quality teams based on the quality of their players/league.
So to take Angeball in to those games will have been high risk and you'd expect some good results and some bad ones, which I think is what the record showed (without looking).
For Spurs, opposition will have done their homework and four home games in particular I think most won't have any problem parking the bus at WHL and looking to counter. So I doubt it will be easy even if games like Carrierbag look like 3 pts on paper.
I hope we have similarly done our home work. It makes team selection difficult and really we want to be winning home games so cannot afford to be making too many changes.

If we could play the best X1 available every game, it wouldn't be a hindrance, but our squad is still not strong enough to make anything other than basic changes every week

Hopefully not too much rotation, although I know Romero is out for at least the first game.

I think his system will fail more in Europe with us than in any other tournament. Gung-ho teams always get found out by smarter European outfits. I'll be amazed if we do anything of note in Europe and I'm staggered we're favourites for the Europa League. We'll probably do okay in the early rounds but as soon as we come up against an established side, we'll get done.

His record at Celtic was poor in Europe too. Going toe to toe with teams infinitely better was just suicide. The same will apply to us. It's playstation football and it only really works when you've got the players in the world to implement it. He'd be a great candidate for City manager after Pep goes. At Spurs, you have to manage things a little better and realise that you have to be a bit smarter to beat the bigger teams. Poch was a more pragmatic manager for us and he had more than one way of setting us up.
