I agree with everything you say there Jonty. Except for I think there is a player in Aaronson, he has quick feet, he just needs more confidence in what he's doing. And he has a great engine in him. Let's give him a season and then judge at the end of it.
I thought Aaronson was the weak link tonight until clown hands had the final say.
Just litterally finished watching it on record
95 mins of absolute brilliance thrown down the friggin toilet. Felt like a defeat. Won't get promoted throwing away points like that. We should be top already, but throwing points away tonight, at home to Portsmouth and a Burnley side that didn't even try to win the game is going to cost us if we ain't careful.
Fuming
I’m still trying to recover from losing those 3 points that I thought were in the bag! We really do need an upgrade on Meslier. I thought he was doing OK tonight, catching balls from their corners etc, but then to not catch that final ball was just criminal - 2 points thrown away after all the hard work the whole team had done.
I think I will still feel gutted for the entirety of the International break.
I thought Aaronson played really well and really poor in equal measure tonight. Rothwell played well and Gnonto was brilliant. All the team gave 100% - such a shame for the night to end in disappointment.
Thought Rothwell played well.
Tanaka solid, but he may be more negative than Gruev.
Piroe scores…that’s all he has to do.
Mez will have better days, poor lad has a couple of weeks of PTSD to cope with…Hope he comes back in top form.
Firpo really p!ssed off at the end, straight down the tunnel…maybe lost his match winning bonus, who knows.
Gnonto - When James and Solomon are back I’d like to see Willie take Aaronson’s place.
I’d have taken a point at the start, but absolutely gutted to lose 2 points at the death.
I only recall one goal similar to that in all my years watching Leeds.
Anyone recall our winner against Middlesbrough in the first home game of the 89/90 promotion season?

Yeah I reckon he will end up with a better career than Summerville and Rutter. Just so many parts to his game.
I really enjoyed that game right up until Meslier did that.
Both teams looked absolute class. Toe to toe. But, our
professionalism and fight was outstanding. I even thought Meslier was doing well. Commanding his area
and pretty much what you want from a keeper. And
then he sh 1 t his pants on live tv.
He's not progressed in three seasons. He just hasn't.
In the same way Bamford has done fck all in three
seasons. They have been our two glaring weaknesses.
January window can't come quick enough.
Gnonto was magical. Excellent. Love Largie. Rothwell
and Tanaka I like. And I think we're good there. Our
back four keep getting better. And they were already
top level for this division. But, oh good god Meslier.
On a side note, the club must bring in fresh to at least
take a look at and see if they can add to this squad
so we don't drive the currently stretched players into
the ground.
Would've settled for a point. We got it. But, on balance
we deserved the win. Thanks Meslier.

Yep absolutely I was sat in the top tier of the South Stand and watched with utter amazement and glea as their keeper air kicked it on about the penalty spot or thereabouts and the ball rolled into an empty net.
Tonight was Karma giving it back 35 years later.... never underestimate the power of providence but in all seriousness this could actually make Meslier a better keeper or it will pray on his mind and finish him at Leeds like Rachubka... Time will tell.
And, Piroe did excellent again in the time he had.
Goal machine.
Disgusting error
When was the last time we had a good, reliable keeper?

Agree pal, very good all round performance ๐
Would have been easier to take how that game ended if we hadn't so thoroughly deserved those 3 points. A real battling, gutsy performance against a side with a perfect home record.
Sunderland deserved nothing from that game. The numbers leaving early & the way they celebrated at the end amply illustrated that.
Now 6 points from the next 2 home games please. We've tossed away at least 2 this week, possibly even more.
These are the games that need to be won.
A point is good. But not good enough. Same with the Norwich game
If you want promotion, you must see these
games off.
Feel for Mes. Unlucky mistake or not, he is just
not on the level we need our goalie to be.
Gnonto was outstanding. Piroe seems to be our only striker who knows how to put the ball in the net.
All in all a solid performance. But it seems they for some reason suddenly stopped being able to
keep control of the ball, and pass it to a team
mate.
Should've been 3. Got 1. Such is life
Fair Comments, Jonty. It was a professional performance for me but we paid the price for putting the handbrake on when we were in charge. How often did we turn back to our goal when we had promising possession in midfield? Yes, the mistake was horrendous , but we had plenty of opportu items to attack them but we didn't. Farke mistook at himself these past two games, because we were .ore than good enough for 6 points.

Agree on Aaronson, we need better.
Two really good goals for Leeds today, two not so much for Sunderland.
Morning all๐.
To add my thoughts, just watched Mes’ inexplicable howler again. Together with him inexplicably diving over the ball for the Norwich penalty that’s 4 points gone begging. Btw, it’s incompetence rather than anything else imho.
As well as Piroe played 2nd half showed the difficulty in playing him up top. They would press us high meaning we would have to go long and he wouldn't challenge and the ball would just come straight back.
When Joseph came on he was making it so much harder for their CBs. He won a few free kicks and all small things like even when the sunderland defender they was unable to head the ball to a midfielder and instead flick it back to their keeper meaning they found it more difficult to pin us in.
True Enfield - but looking at it another way, we’ve got two completely different ways to approach our forward play. I like that๐.

* actually ‘incompetence’ was the wrong word to use … I’m just making the point that it’s not nefarious as was suggested by someone on the MDT.
I think the nature of this result highlights one problem we didn’t address in the window: the need for a new keeper.
Meslier has undoubtedly had good spells where he has looked to be improving, to the extent where he was being hailed as the next French no 1 keeper. But over the last two or more years, progress has stalled in many areas, such as his confidence, distribution, positioning and ball-handling skills (ironically, last night he was actually catching crossed balls rather than punching them).
His confidence will surely be affected after this — do we rest him or put him ‘back on the horse’? Either way, I think this is one area we need to prioritise in the next window.
Aaronson was really poor last night. Running around chasing shadows. I dont rate Bogle either. Hes always too far forward leaving us wide open at the back.
I guess Tanaka has been asked to play as a more defensive player than Rothwell but I thought both were great.
What can you say about Meslier that hasn't already been said. Just hope he kicks on and puts it behind him. Glad we have a bit of a break. Do think we need better when promoted.
Thought Gnonto, Firpo were excellent. Would have been a huge win as they were a lot better than i thought they'd be. I still think we are the better side though.

Just re looked at the goal and it was the result of three of his failings that I mentioned above: his ‘lack of confidence’ in his ‘ball handling skills’ meant that instead of doing the logical thing and going forward to catch the ball before it bounced he backed off — that ‘poor positioning’ cost us dearly.
