tbf more young players are coming through now but i understand what you mean.
I think there needs to be a mix for example
Hart, Walker, Terry, Jones, Cole, Wilshere, Parker, Johnson, Young, Rooney, Sturridge/Welbeck/Carroll
in the case of belgium
their team are getting quite good, i can see them getting into the world cup in 2014 and going quite far
how the hell doesnt adam johnson get into the england lineup, hes quality (im a united fan btw!) him rooney and young should be the front three!
and germany? they'll probably win euro 2012, there youngesters are jus too good ozil, goetze, mueller and hummells etc...
it will be a spain vs germany final again
Richards and Johnson should start for England!
The german Fa restructured there game in 2000 and are now reaping the rewards.
And its up to the manager who he picks.
And quite pointless comparing the two teams.
They have world class young players like Ozil, Gotze etc.
We do not.
Gomez is a monster aswell.
Sturridge over Johnson. For starters one of them actually start for their team...
Dissapointed that Belgium didn't go through
the closest we have to world class is wilshere
It's obviously Rooney, it pains me to say

----------
Why should Johnson start when your own manager doesnt pick him?
Hazard looked rubbish, over hyped.
I think the world cup qualifiers after euro2012 will be the best opportunity for england to do this. There are a few young English players that are coming through and playing regularly for the top 6 in the PL, they will have had a little experience in the England senior squad over the next few months and they should be handed the baton as soon as ENgland get knocked out in the group stages. I would say do it now, but with Capello as the manager that will never happen.
After Euro's the following should not be allowed anywhere near the England squad:
Terry
Lampard
Gerrard
Defoe
Lennon
Barry
Rio
Downing (had cances o shine but hasn't, taking place from likes of Johnson)
The following should be the main men to lead England:
Welbeck
Sturridge
Cleverly
Wilshere
Kelly
Walker
Jones
Smalling
Chamberlin
Cattermol(has a fighting style that no one in the current squad has)
Barton
Jarvis
Frimpong
Cattermol(has a fighting style that no one in the current squad has)
Barton
Jarvis
Frimpong
======================
All of which are utter tripe.
And bartons nearly 30.
And frimpongs going to play for ghana.

Frimpong cannot play because he is now going to be playing for Ghana
I personally think it is the end of walcott now. he too has had so many chances to prove his worth but yet he has failed
Spain prove you dont need a midfield general if you can pass.
Don't drop Terry, people drop him for the sake of it because he's oldish and considered part of the 'old guard' when in reality he's probably still England's best defender (Terry is in excellent form while Smalling and espically Jones still make naive mistakes and need experience)
I would also drop Cole and just bring Baines (starting) and Bertrand (back-up)
because the old dogs in the FA, want to stick to tradition.
Whole of football is moving foward technically and tactically. England stuck in a time machine of pace and power.
Remind me the last team that england actually managed to outpass. I cant remember the last time!
Montenegro, Belarus, Mexico, Egypt all outpassed yes we beat some of them, but it showed us up how dated our coaching is. These are against teams with a tiny fraction of the FA's budget. But they just want to build bigger and faster players.

smalling--jones----cahill---cole
---------parker----wilshere------

--> that's what the england line up should look like for euro 2012!
Except Richards for Jones, Smalling at CB, Terry for Cahill, Baines for Cole, any decent CM for Parker and Sturridge for Johnson

You say our coaching is dated and also named 4 teams that out passed us but you failed to mention we beat 3 of them and drew with the other. Arsenal out pass most PL teams but have you seen where they are in the league - not forgetting it's been 6 years since they've won anything.
Pass, pass, pass with no end product - Alla, the four teams you mentioned and Arsenal, is not what i hope for!
Germany have the right mixture of pass, power and speed and that's the reason they'll be waving us goodbye, come next summer.
Dont England have Spain soon in a freindly?
Should be interesting.
and Portugal... very interesting!
England vs. Spain
Sat 12 Nov 5.15pm
At last a friendly with appeal
One or two of the current England players even played in the 2002 WorldCup!
--------
To be fair, Klose still plays..
All this talk about England...and comparing it to Spain and Germany, or any other nation is useless. England is England. What works for Spain or Germany may not work here for one reason or another.
If England want to improve, then England need to develop a system that is English. The Dutch have their style, Germans theirs, Italians theirs, Spain became successful after years of underachieving thanks to Barcelona (core Barcelona team is the core of Spanish side, so no wonder they do so well).
The Germans reinvented themselves and made a style suiting them. England should try to do the same. It's not all about flair or midfield generals (some teams may need them others may not, it all depends on the team).
And one thing I think England need to do is make sure the whole team doesn't rely just on one person.
I personally think flexibility when it comes to players and styles will help England. The problem is the players. They do not seem to "gel" well for one reason or another. It could be because England don't play the best team but the best players, which is not what a team sport is about really.
Anyway, being English and abroad, when England put in a sucky performance I have to take comments about that ****.
