Plus, not sure why Aaronson keeps his place, he doesn't do it for me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Aaronson has the same problem James use to suffer from - no composure in front of goal. We know he’s not there as a striker but his job is still to score when the chances present themselves. He was miles off with all his shots - needs sorting on the training ground.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly. Let him sort it on the training ground. It's not his position really so why not try someone else. We have the bench, with Aaronson on the pitch we're not fielding our best team.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He was poor against Mexico according to the journalist from goal.com.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is anyone surprised?

What position was he playing?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not a clue, wears No.11 shirt and plays in attack if that helps, wasn't the worst player in what sounds like a difficult game for the USA team, Sargeant played badly Aidan Morris (Middlesbrough) was even worse.
Sounds like Brendan played OK against Panama.
I like Aaronson, he gives his all for the team. Sounds to me like he needs a rest. He has played a lot of football. James being back should help.
If Aaronson is that bad why did USA make 4 or 5 subs and he wasn't one of them against a good side?
Most on here couldn't spot a decent player if he was in bed with their missus
Aaronson is doing just fine, finishing is poor but he’s certainly not playing badly

Aaronson is running his socks off, that will endear him to the fans atleast. He probably is the weakest member of the starting 11, but I like him though.

Absolutely chuffed as i saw Gary McAllister in Harrogate today
You see the game completely differently at the match.
Absolutely nothing wrong with Aaronssons performance.

I got the impression that he was working hard and occupying players like Vini Souza. Isn't sometimes the case that people watch the ball too much in football and miss what's happening off the ball?
Looking at the games coming up we should be able to go on a run now. So many winnable games coming up.

Aaronson had just come back from a game at 5.00 a.m. UK time, just three days earlier. Add in the jet lag and you can understand why his accuracy in front of goal was poor. In every other respect, he worked his socks off and often got the better of big, lumpy, Champo players. Last time we saw him, he was falling to ground every five minutes. This season, he is giving hIs best, and getting better. He deserves our backing.

Seems to me this debate over the merits of Aeronson is similar to that of Firpo at various stages last season aswell as Gruev and Gnonto and then this season Piroe and then Rothwell and Bogle who both I thought had their best games for us on Friday night.
It's all about opinions and being flexible enough to possibly change that opinion about someone who may just take a bit longer to show their true potential and although I doubt Aeronson will be Premier league quality I think despite his poor finishing against Shef Utd he will offer the team plenty and be a significant contributor to our promotion campaign.
I personally don't think Aeronson should be written off but instead given some leeway and let's support and encourage the guy to do better as in this league he's more than capable.

Square ball made a really good point on Firpo, which was had we bought him in January or last year everyone would be raving about how our leftback problems are finally sorted.
Guy has been quality for months yet it's only now people are giving him his due.
Hopefully same happens with BA and he just keeps plugging away with steady performances.
Guy had done well this season, wouldn't be dropping him
I thought Aaronson had a better game vs the blades than he did against Sunderland. With James coming back in to the team and Solomon it gives us different options and the ability to rest players for midweek games etc

I agree Macca, Aaronson can rarely be accused of a lack of effort and commitment to the cause – and I sense his positive mentality has to be a good influence all round. His end product – whether that be his final passes or shots on goals – are his big failing. As mentioned before, we need to do with him what we did behind the scenes with Dan James – train him on composure and awareness, and he could be a game changer.
I think Aaronson does more than some give him credit for. Okay so his finishing could do with improving, though Friday he probably wasn't helped by not long coming back from international duties.
He harries and pressurises defences constantly, seldom lets them dwell on the ball. same for midfielders if he's close to them. He works hard and creates space and confusion for the other attackers to exploit. He's doing his bit. But yes, more goals would be good - and maybe a bit more difficult to win the ball from.
BA reminds me of a half decent boxer without a knockout punch.
Not doubting his aptitude.
Seems most like him. I don't dislike him but he's not good enough. I'd like to see someone who doesn't get pushed of the ball so easily and maybe have some skill with the ball. Good thing we're winning because if we weren't there,d be lots of calls for Aaronson to be dropped to the bench.
