New signing

Been an open secret since Friday, he was pictured with a fan at the Sheff Utd game. Farke been enjoying all the mind games apparently, we were going to sign Kouyate first, then it was Coquelin but then Guilavogui sneaks in under the radar.

Amazing the fan managed to spot it was Guilavogui I wouldn't have.

Looking forward to his song.

Good cover, I'm guessing its a one year deal.

Better than nothing but yeah I here ya. Amartey is 29 and played 100+ in England. Would've preferred him.

I think they were checking how fit he is and how easy it would be to get a work permit. Hence the delay.

Experienced player at 34 and can play centre back as well as DM.

Deal to end of the season.

Never played in England but plenty of top level experience. Could prove a very wise signing if injuries hit any deeper.

I know I'm always banging on about it, but when you're trying to claw your way out of the 2nd tier, experience is the most prized quality.

I just hope this is a signing that Farke uses to bring on as a 70 minute sub if necessary for our now new first choice midfield duo Tanaka and Rothwell or use if one of those first choice is unavailable for any reason and he doesn't decide to be more negative in his set up and start this new fellow ahead of Tanaka or Rothwell.

Good to have another option. Don’t know the guy but he won’t play a big role unless injuries get even worse, good experience and French international so much be half decent

Lack of experience last season was an issue, we had no one who’d been there and done it

Nah quality is.

Always has been always will do

Quality is an all-encompassing term. What kind of quality? Youth? Energy? Skill? Fitness? Leadership? Passion? Commitment? The list goes on, but experience can encompass many of the above 'qualities'. Be interesting to know what others think our team needs – quality-wise.

He’s been signed as backup, he’s literally 5 choice when rest come back.

We aint signed him because of his quality or experience, we signed incase of any more injuries

And am not saying he wont be a good player if he does play, got good pedigree.

Am just saying quality players is what wins you stuff.

Agree with the quality comment but also need bodies….

After the hysteria of the transfer window I will trust farke and 49ers trying to do the right thing.

Tanaka, ramazani, rothwell, Solomon all quality so far. Squad still vulnerable a little but at the moment they seem to know what they are doing.

Except it didn't last season. Depth is as important as quality, as Ipswich showed.

The often quoted ingredient "bottle", or to be precise lack of it, is what I believe cost us in the run in last season. Experience can help with that too.

Joshua seems a really nice guy, plus a leader with experience, and should be an asset for us.

We all deride Spurs for it, but Leeds are the masters of bottling it on the big occasions - even though some delude themselves by blaming it on ‘bad luck’.

absolutely this

last season had nothing to do with squad depth... people saying Farke could have swapped players out, he didn't, and am not buying he didn't trust the players either..

obviously if we had Messi in the squad to come in of course that would of helped.. but realistically when would we have signed these cover please?, the Jan previous the only chance.. we already had a relatively new squad who were favourites to go up... with FFP in mind, who you guna sign as cover, better than any option Farke had in May?

oh and I've heard of this new guy... .. lets hope he's trusted enough to play a few minutes eh?

We did. But in my view we didn't use that depth enough. I thought the Welsh contingent suffered after the internationals and I thought the team just ran out of ideas/steam/something to get us over the line.

That said our points total were negated by a freak season for others around us.

Track record of transfer signings has been good last year and this, so more optimistic about this signing than if Orta had been involved.

Should just be a backup player.

That's exactly where I am.

I trust Farke enough because his signings thus far have been really good and what we have needed.

To be honest, like low said he is fifth choice so the less we see of him the better and I'm kind of hoping we don't need him at all
