What better do you expect? You’ve had a rough start to the season but Arteta has had you challenging with City which is a superb achievement. Who do you really think is going to be the manager to surpass Pep? Klopp couldn’t do it most season and he’s the best manager in the world not named Guardiola.
Pep is gone soon, I’d be sticking with Arteta and giving yourself the best chance when Pep goes. Arsenal don’t have some divine right to be challenging for the league.

Arteta has shown that he's still not learning in terms of squad management. I thought it was something the club was imposing on him but now I am thinking it's him he wants a small squad and this season he's paying the price for that attitude. In no scenario should one player being out break the entire teams attacking structure. I mean it's ridiculous Odegaard is coming back from a pretty bad injury where he's had five minutes of game time in two months and he's playing the full 90. Fair play to him getting through it but he should not being put in that position.

Having said the above Wenger went 9 years without a trophy. Top4 is a trophy was born and fans bought into it
Even back them Top4 and FA Cups were not enough.

I think the OP massively under appreciates the positive effect Arteta has had in turning Arsenal round, from banter meme toxicity - on field and off - with ever growing matchday ticket availability, where even the most deluded Gooners could only dream of title challenges, to a united entity (irl if not always online) with a group of players we can relate to and believe in, where away defeats to Newcastle are met with anxiety rather than shrugs, matchday tickets are almost impossible to buy, and no one even mentions AFTV anymore.
I mean, surely I’m not the only one that remembers all this?

"So my question is - do you still trust Mikel Arteta?"
Yes.
I do think this change in the director of football could be a good thing though. Transfers in and out are getting a bit iffy now and starting to bog down the squad.
We got to a point where pretty much the entire squad was contributing, but now we seem to be back to building up a collection of deadwood.
Zinchenko clearly on the shiiiiit list, Jesus looks like he couldn't care less, even if he was eligible Sterling probably wouldn't have played a minute, Tierney still here somehow, Trossard getting worse by the week - rubbish when he starts, throws a tantrum when he doesn't, Tomiyasu rewarded with a new contract despite being a perma-crock.......
Think we need someone a bit stronger over Arteta.

All this nonsense about 800 Million spend.
That was needed to get us back in the CL and then challenging for the PL.
Before he got here we were a shambles, no clue on how to defend, no clue how to play in big games away and at home and generally no identity.
He's managed to get us back to a very high level. The only thing he's been missing is that tiny bit of luck in certain games.
If he had we could have won 2 PL trophies but sadly City are a juggernaut. They are the depth and quality when players are missing.

Enjoy, I have no expectation to win the league and certainly did not have at the beginning of the season.
We've had an excellent start though however I expect city to come good although there appear to be some cracks there.

It is fair to question if Arteta and the squad has reached its peak - but there are many more questions that also have to be asked.
Let's see who we get to replace Edu, it could give an indication as to our ceiling as a club in the current climate. I am not expecting much in January, but the summer will be very important to see if we can step back up or we are falling further towards the chasing pack.
The City case could change English football massively, whatever way it goes, stability could be key.
I have a few misgivings about Arteta and his time as our boss, but there is more to be positive about than negative.

It's mainly rival fans that say silly things like 'if he doesn't win the PL or CL,he has to go'..us Arsenal fans all know how far we've come, since he's taking over and no one has a divine right to win anything, regardless of money spent.
As above, MY experience with Arteta in charge has been more positive than negative.

I’m one of Arteta’s biggest critic’s but it would be silly to get rid of him (unless the rest of the season is a complete disaster, ie mid table finish, no domestic cups, out in last 16 of CL). We have made progress on every season he has been here, setbacks have to come eventually. Still think we can turn things around anyway with a decent set of fixtures coming up over the next 3 months
posted 1 week, 5 days ago
Too much of an overreaction imo exacerbated by wannabe experts with a mic exaggerating things for clicks. It'd be silly to remove Arteta.

We’ve had pretty horrendous fixtures, plus bad luck with injury and despite that we’ve picked an acceptable amount of points given the games we’ve had and the relatively on paper easier run our rivals have had. Hopefully it won’t look too bad once the league is born out. Clearly we could have done better and being 9 points behind is a big margin to catch up, but the start probably hasn’t been as disastrous as it seems.
I feel like the team this season still hasn’t had a chance to build up any sort of momentum or form due to the line ups having to change a lot. So I’d give it a bit more time to see if it starts to jell before deciding if we’ve made a step backwards. But There’s definitely valid criticism you could make about how we handled the transfer market, and how Arteta has managed not having players fit, I wouldn’t say it’s panic stations yet though

From where we were before Arteta to where he got us last season and the season before is an improvement very few managers have achieved lately.
I was one of his biggest critics early on and there may well be a time for him to go but it's way too early to say the project has failed. It's been a massive success with only the best league side in the world thwarting our last two efforts.
League Cups and FA Cups are one thing but as United (and several others) prove they often mean feck all in the grand scheme of squad improvement.
