TV Rights shake up?

I'll kick us off. I think while it will obviously increase the gap between bigger and smaller clubs and virtually cement the two-tier system we have, with the top six far and away above the rest. It will at that same time offer greater competition with the continent AND make it harder for City and Chelsea to use their resources to bully other clubs.

That's my opinion.

I don't like think, however it could benefit the club but would only make the mancs a lot more richer.

The only reason they've not run away from other clubs a bit like Madrid/Barcelona financially is due to how the premier league money is spread out.

Would also reduce competition in the premier league.

No chance of it happening. 14 clubs would have to vote in favour of it lol

Sounds like Liverpool are struggling to finance a new stadium

Of course we are struggling to finance a new stadium, but then again it does`nt make sense to spend £300 million plus just to gain an extra 15000 seats. Any larger than a 60000 seater stadium I do not think we would fill, to be honest I think we will struggle to fill 60000 on a regular basis.

Why doesnt the Premier League have it's own channel to broadcast games, surely more revenue would be generated this way, making all clubs better off?

Trough not big enough?

It`s not fair.

It's not about the rights in the uk, it's about the international rights.

Not looking for an automatic handout of more money either, we have confidence that we can NEGOTIATE a better deal for Liverpool football club.

It's been a while in coming and it's not something that hasnt been thought of.

LFC TV has been broadcast around the world and has been used as a gauge of opinion with regards to the worldwide appeal of LFC and LFC live matches.

Smaller clubs these days have enough problems just surviving. Carving up the TV rights which would further accentuate the difference for me would be a backward step for for football in this country. The league must be competitive as it can be. Expanding the the difference between thr richest and the poorest wouldn't sit well with me.

It would also make our league less competitive.

Steps are being taken via the FFP regulations to try and get clubs to get their financial houses in order, if it is regulated correctly this is a good move for the game as a whole. Carving upo the money from the TV rights between a select few I feel is unfair because as a football fan, want I want to see a competitive league.

Blackburn fan here and all bias aside I think Ian Ayre is not only stupid with his suggestion, but incredibly narrow minded and arrogant.

The reason the Premier League has become such a high value product is due to the competition itself. He talks of people only paying their subscription abroad because they want to watch Liverpool play, who will Liverpool be playing...? We all deserve an equal share of the money because we all contribute to the quality of the league.

We need the push for a leveling out the division not pull in the other direction and end up like La Liga.

Ridiculous, and will never happen.

An equal share???

Compare the potential viewing figures for say, rovers v fulham and then any Lfc game!

I don't mind subsidizing smaller clubs, Spurs, Everton, etc, but you would hope they would have the good grace to say thank you now and again.

posted on 12/10/11

The reason why the Premier league is watched Worldwide is because of the fact it is competitive unlike La Liga, guess what La Liga does, it gives the bigger clubs more money which reduces the smaller clubs budgets.

Your board member, knows nothing about football and the spirit of the game ....

I think "struggle" to fill a 60k stadium point made earlier raises some points in my mind.

1. has the guy ever been to anfield

2. what's he basing his theroy off of?

3. hasn't he paid any attention whatsoever to our efforts to give the over 60k people just on the waiting list for a season ticket an update.

for the record most under capacity crowds we get are directly related to away fan safey, creating buffer zone, under sales etc etc....

we can fill a 60k stadium no bother.

We had Liverpool fans all over the United board a few weeks back having a go at SAF for suggesting that ALL PL clubs deserved more than they got from overseas TV rights. Making out like SAF was trying to suggest that United should get more than other teams - even though he categorically stated that wouldn't be fair.

Then we have this. Hom hum.

Liverpool will struggle to fill out cause ticket prices will increase and it will become more corporate if Liverpool aren't successful fans won't come

Have I ever been to Anfield ? yes i have been going since 1966.
My theory is based on nothing more than gut instinct , and I hope that i`m wrong.
And that what goes round comes round and attendances will drop at every ground.

Attendances will drop, they are dropping now, the question is how long will it last and if and when the recovery comes will they return or exceed the levels we have enjoyed recently. That is the question/gamble that clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs need to consider.

Lfc have sold out each home and away game so far this season!!!

The season is young yet and optimisim high, Chelsea haven't sold out our early CL games and haven't in most years, even when ticket prices are reduced, latter games are always sold out een though they are more expensive I am expecting there will be games this year where there will not be sell outs. Every club suffered one or 2 if not more last year including United.
