Big Ange

Ange did set us up well yesterday and should get credit

Deki does indeed play well against City when playing wide and Madders did very well and showed what he can do when he's on his game.

I still think Ange was right to drop Madders and play Deki in his more central position and he's proved to be our best player this season.

Players must learn to keep their place in the team they have to perform at a high level in every game and not think they're undroppable.

I agree re: Maddison. I don't think hes been a cause of any of our issues, just that sometimes we need something different and with Deki in such form, he's been undroppable

100% Agree...... Brilliant from Ange and the players yesterday... watched the entire game with my mouth wide open !!! You cannot give them enough credit.

Couple of things to consider....

1) 8 more points from Leicester, Palace and Ipswich and Spurs would be sitting 2nd !!!!

2) Dont wanna be critical after such a performance but surely everyone can see that if we just sat a tiny bit deeper, allowed the opposition to come on to us a little more, we have the players to exploit the space, use their pace and look so much more threatening that we do when we press so high (Esp at home) and get in our own way ? We also give of defenders the ability to defend with the ball & opposition in front of them.... Defo much easier than always being turned around with the opposition in behind us.... I think it played to the strength and Radu and Davies yesterday (Both Brilliant) and would prob help Romero who doesn't have the express pace of VDVD when out of position. It might also help VDVs Hammy's !!!

Well done Ange and Spurs.... Delighted to be proved 100% wrong

Yeh it was a good call because we needed someone who holds onto the ball better and defends better on the RW. BJ has had a good season but excels at getting on the end of chances and playing cutbacks, but is weak in possession. Kulu/Solanke are really strong outlets and helped us relieve pressure countless times

Ange has bought himself time and goodwill with this amazing result. Keep progressing in the cups and there will be exciting times ahead.

I really don't think it's the high line that has cost us at all. . Palace Ipswich and half of BHA we failed to compete.

Fulham H
Bournemouth A
Chelsea H
Southampton A
Liverpool H

Those are our next 5 games in the league. I would expect to at least not be beaten until Liverpool, and even then that game is at home. If we do suffer a loss or 2 you would still have to question that there is something wrong with the mindset of this team.

Just to add some context to the above, we play 3 additional games in between. Roma, Rangers and Utd in the league q final.

Bound to pick up some more injuries on the way plus the usual Thurs/Sunday syndrome as highlighted by the Ipswich game.

Hope Udogie is fit, as he didn't look that comfortable when he came off yday.

I didn't forget the other games. The United game in particular has its own importance.

Other injuries may be picked up but we did just prove with our 2nd choice CB pairing and Bentancur unavailable, we can achieve good things without the need for a full strength team.

I still think even with these other games the losses should be reduced to a minimum. We are just talking about trying to be unbeaten, so draws can be acceptable too. We need to build on this result in the way we haven't been able to with other big wins. Third or 4th luck is a charm?

Yeah, we need to break away from this pattern of winning or losing.

We have drawn 7 out of Ange's 50 games, which is way less than the rest of the top 6. At the same time we have lost 17, which again is way more than the rest.

I can certainly see the advantage of just trying to win and that actually draws dont really offer much reward, but the points can effectively be worth double if we are playing a rival. So for example, drawing at home to Villa instead of losing sees us turn around their 2 point advantage and have us ending 4th. Even just hanging on for a point vs BHA this season has us 5th, above them and just 3 points off 2nd.

Small margins at times and a draw can help, especially if it aint all clicking, which happens sometimes.

On top of the consequence of preventing a rival from winning or the value of a point over none at all, it's also the negative feeling a loss generates among the team and fans, and of course it's also about showing that you are a hard to beat team.
