Salah has come out and said he doesn't want to be there so I don't imagine he will be playing. Liverpool also conceded twice at the weekend whilst also getting away with what should have been a pen for Southampton. Southampton also missed another pen. So Liverpool were very lucky and look to be struggling massively in defence.
Madrid on the other hand had a big victory and clean sheet at the weekend so have all of the momentum.
Liverpool NEED to go full strength or they will get a battering.
posted 3 weeks, 1 day ago
I would be doing some rotation. It would take an absolute collapse not to finish top 8. A win and a draw should guarantee it from 4 games. Thr weekend game is therefore more important. A shame as I really wanted us to go at Madrid but we're still capable of winning with some rotation.

Bradley, Quansah, VVD, Robertson
Gravenberch
Mac Allister, Jones
Salah, Nunez, Diaz
Would have liked to have rested Gravenberch also but unfortunately we didn't get the right player in when the transfer window was open and I wouldn't want to play a destroyer in Endo against Madrid at home. You want to be controlling the possession as much as possible.
posted 3 weeks, 1 day ago
Even though Madrid will probably still qualify regardless, they still need to win more than Liverpool do so they're more inclined to go for it.
This means Liverpool can opt for a more counter attacking set up which means they can rest one or two players without affecting that gane plan.
posted 3 weeks, 1 day ago
Cheers, TOOR.
This current iteration of Madrid isn't really one to control or contest possession that much either. Even with their makeshift defence - or perhaps even more so because of it - they're more likely to sit deep and seek to counter.

Game v City is so important.
I would say i'm still to be convinced of Liverpool's ability to win the league, they've been lucky rather than great so far.
A win v City gives so much momentum.
Madrid before that game is a bit of a headache because you want to beat them but it's also verging on dead rubber territory so wholesale changes and use it to find out who is ready to step up for the games that matter.

Play strongest team and win. Keep the momentum going.
Possibly look at Gomez at right back and maybe not risk Trent hammy against Mbappe.
Mac and Diaz were rested while Salah had no international football so is fresh. VVD only played 1 game.
Only players really are Grav and Ibou but they can be managed after 60 mins if needed.

If rotating this meant us winning city id be for it, no guarantees though and the PGMOL have stuck 3 manc refs on the weekend game so we know what they want.

The league placings affect who you draw in the knockouts, with the top two getting a draw out of the teams who finish in the middle section of the playoff spots. If you finish 7th or 8th, you'll probably end up drawing either 9th or 10th because they play 23rd and 24th in the playoffs.
