When left to their own devices, the general public develop a salt, sugar and fat addiction. Chinese takeaways satisfy all of these cravings in a relatively affordable and tasty way. The British public has also become extremely lazy. All physical effort can now be passed on to immigrants, who they hate.

Is there anything else you'd like to know?

The laziness is so accurate. What in the fack happened. Country in the bin.

And don't get me started on the obsession with celebrities and celebrity tv ffs, mental.

It is basically the US version of xmas day in the UK. Xmas day in the US is just a normal Sunday in reality.

So they've finally cancelled Christmas?
When's the Great Replacement?

Xmas just isn't much of a holiday here. Day off but not the two week jaunt it is in the UK. No boxing day etc. Thanksgiving is the biggy

I'd like to know if Indian takeaways aren't perhaps more distinctive of modern British culture than Chinese takeaways, which seem to be very popular not just in Britain and former British colonies, but in many other countries too.

As a secondary question, I would like to know the basis or source for the claim that curry is the most popular type of dish in Britain.

Please substantiate your answer with references.

Recent data suggests that Chinese takeaway is currently more popular than Indian takeaway in the UK in 2024. A poll of over 15,000 people found that 26% chose Chinese as their favorite takeaway, while 17% preferred Indian.

The source for the information I provided is a poll of over 15,000 people conducted by Survation on behalf of Best for Britain between March 8th and 25th, 2024. The poll asked respondents to choose their favorite takeaway dinner from a list of options, including Chinese, Indian, fish and chips, pizza, kebab, sushi, and others.

I think you might just be a little bit behind the times IOAG.

In the UK, if you are under 45, there are some things that you NEED if you are a member of the basic general public, which make up the majority.

1. The latest iphone (has to be iphone)
2. A German car on finance (preferably white)
3. Chinese takeaways at least 3 time per week
4. Vapes
5. A cockapoo called Bailey/Oscar etc.
6. At least one internet shopping delivery on the way (that you don't need)
7. Love Island or equivalent
8. The older ones then get a live, laugh, love new build house outside of town within a 10 minute drive of a McDonalds.

These are the most common things, amongst the largest group of society in the UK. These are just facts.

These are what define modern British society/culture.

Just because they aren't very romantic doesn't mean they should be ignored, in favour of things people did 50 years ago, that some people may do like once a year.

Just the outcome of a capitalist/consumerist society. It needs that highly influenced and basic majority to succeed.

And it has.

1. iphones

The general public in the UK "needs" an iPhone. Multiple contributing factors:

Brand Prestige and Social Status:

Perception of Luxury: Apple has successfully cultivated a brand image associated with luxury, innovation, and status. Owning an iPhone can be seen as a symbol of success and affluence.
Social Comparison: In a society driven by social media and constant comparison, owning a popular and recognizable device like an iPhone can boost one's social standing.

Social Proof and Peer Pressure:

Conformity and Belonging: In social groups, there can be a tendency to conform to peer pressure and adopt the same technology as others. This can lead to a sense that owning an iPhone is necessary to fit in.

2. German cars on finance

There are several reasons why the UK general public may feel pressure to have the latest German car on finance:

1. Status Symbol:

German car brands like Mercedes, BMW, and Audi have long been associated with luxury, prestige, and success. Owning a new model can be seen as a status symbol, reflecting wealth and achievement.
Social comparison and peer pressure can influence individuals to aspire to own a car that is perceived as desirable and aspirational

3. Vapes

The rise in vaping popularity in the UK, even among non-smokers, is a complex issue with multiple contributing factors:

1. Perceived Harm Reduction:

Vaping is often marketed as a less harmful alternative to traditional smoking. While it's less harmful than cigarettes, it's not entirely risk-free.
Many people view vaping as a way to reduce their exposure to harmful chemicals found in cigarettes.
2. Social Influence and Peer Pressure:

Social trends and peer pressure can play a significant role in the adoption of new behaviors, including vaping.
Seeing friends and peers vaping can make it seem more socially acceptable and trendy.
3. Marketing and Advertising:

Aggressive marketing campaigns by vaping companies have contributed to the normalization of vaping.
Advertisements often portray vaping as stylish, trendy, and socially acceptable.
4. Flavors and Variety:

The wide range of flavors available in vaping products can be appealing to young people and non-smokers.
These flavors can make vaping more enjoyable and less intimidating.
5. Accessibility and Affordability:

Vaping devices and e-liquids are readily available and relatively affordable, making it easy for people to start vaping.
It's important to note that while vaping may be perceived as less harmful than smoking, it's not entirely harmless. Long-term health effects of vaping are still being studied, and there are concerns about the potential risks associated with nicotine addiction and exposure to other chemicals.

Now lets just bring a few of them together to create your average UK citizen. How has this most popular model of UK human citizen been created?

The combination of an iPhone, a German car, and a Cockapoo can be seen as a contemporary status symbol, often associated with a certain lifestyle and social standing. It's important to note that this is a generalization and not everyone who owns these items aspires to the same social status.

Here are some reasons why these items may be seen as desirable:

1. Status Symbol:

iPhone: Apple products are often associated with luxury, innovation, and success. Owning the latest iPhone can be seen as a status symbol, reflecting wealth and tech-savviness.
German Car: German car brands like Mercedes, BMW, and Audi are renowned for their luxury, performance, and prestige. Owning a new model can signal success and affluence.
Cockapoo: Cockapoos are often considered designer dogs and are associated with a certain lifestyle. They are seen as cute, intelligent, and fashionable, aligning with the image of a modern, successful individual.
2. Social Comparison:

Social media and advertising constantly bombard us with images of desirable lifestyles. Owning these items can make individuals feel like they belong to a certain social group or meet societal expectations.
Peer pressure and the desire to fit in can also influence purchasing decisions.
3. Lifestyle and Identity:

These items can be seen as a way to express one's personality and values. Owning a specific brand or product can help individuals define their identity and project a certain image.
For example, owning a German car might suggest a love of driving and a desire for performance, while owning a Cockapoo might signal a love for animals and a desire for a family-friendly lifestyle.

Traditional UK culture:

Going to church once a week.

Approx 700,000 people attend the Church of England each week.

Modern ACTUAL UK culture:

Getting a takeaway because you are fat and lazy and disgusting

According to a KPMG study, nearly a third (31%) of consumers in the UK have at least one takeaway a week. This number rises to 58% in London.

So, 31% of 68 million is approximately 21 million people who order a takeaway at least once a week.

That's real British culture folks.
