We had what 13 corners. United had zero

Incredible really. 😂

Arsenal seem to play for them because it's a real weapon to use. Nothing wrong with that either I suppose.

Didn't think much of Arsenal in open play tonight personally but then you didn't need to be good.

Very tough there for Rasmus today no blames on his part from me. Tactics very ugly first half but would accept it against this Arsenal side.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Should be some blame. His hold up play was atrocious yet again.

Where I feel sorry for him is his lack of service. Garnacho and Mount behind Hojlund never looked right from minute 1.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Saliba just has his number. This is the second time he has completely bullied him. As you said the service to him was woeful. We did not play like we wanted to score that first half
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be fair Saliba deals with most forwards, after a slow start he looks like he's coming back into form, exceptional defender.

Personally think Hojlund was robbed of a penalty on his first game against Arsenal last season. I have watched it back 50 times and even with my Utd goggles off that was a blatant pen.

Thought he was poor again tonight. No service, true, but even with the little bits he did get he never looked comfortable or confident. He isn't ready to be leading the line for us and Amorim will one million percent look to buy a sticker in the summer. If he doesn't we will struggle again next year.

Hopefully he will know to swap in the playground rather than buying.

Encouraged by the performance, particularly the level of control that frustrated Arsenal and silenced much of the home crowd without posing a goal threat in the first half. However, we struggled to deal with their precise set pieces, with Hojlund, who was poor overall, losing his man. The second goal was somewhat fortunate, but the delivery was excellent once again. Arsenal could have scored more from corners, highlighting the urgent need to improve our set piece defending, especially in how we execute zonal marking.

In attack, we offered little, with Mount, Nacho, and Hojlund delivering highly forgettable performances. In midfield Ugarte was neat and tidy, ably supported by Bruno especially in the first half. We also lacked width with Dalot and Malacia, posing no threat going forwards. Matters improved when Amad entered the fray.

No one likes losing, especially to a team trying to emulate prime Stoke, but the performance suggests we are making progress and heading in the right direction..

Yorro looked good
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He did. People often describe Saliba as a Rolls-Royce, and Yoro has that same effortless quality about him. I absolutely loved his cameo, and with match sharpness, he could be outstanding in a back three. Slab also put in a solid performance.

It could turn out that the youth of Yoro and experience of Maguire become 2 of the back 3 when things settle down, for the rest of this season. For all the stick that Maguire gets, I feel he could be one that benefits from Amorim being here, and he is a good influence around the younger players, so that will help Yoro also.

The result itself was expected, slightly disappointing we couldn't offer more, but this is an Arsenal team who is getting back on track and you feel they could go on a run now.

But on the whole we are actually where we expect to be, and what the manager has been saying and predicting is in line with what is happening on the pitch.

And even at this early stage, there are some players who can be identified as key already

I thought we were utter garbage. Nothing to be happy about there at all.
The defending at set pieces was beyond pathetic.
The attack was beyond pathetic.
The same players, playing awful, do not belong in the premier league.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

2 corners c'mon.

The rest of the 15000 corners and free kicks we were diamond.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We looked shaky as heck on loads of their corners.

When did we look diamond?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Looking diamond was tongue in cheek mate. Your post seemed an exaggeration so I just did the same

What do you think about zonal marking against those corners? It's clever from the gooners because they know it's much harder with zm. We've got to play them again in the cup and I hope Amorim bins it off (just for that game) and prepares them the old skool way Steve Bruce style (as a player not manager!)

While zonal marking is Amorim's preferred approach, his pragmatism suggests he will learn from this experience and may adapt, potentially switching to man-to-man marking or a hybrid system. Another key adjustment could be limiting the number of corners conceded altogether, memo to Marcus to stop effing around near our corner flag would be a good start!

There were a few panic corners given away. I remember one from Onana where Malacia gave a limp pass about a couple of yards from him and instead of just booting it clear Onana kicked it behind. It's just where we are at the moment, developing that defence but still some aspects of low confidence after the last eighteen months.
