I still think it would take some beating to beat how he was in his first season. He's had strong starts since then but ultimately fizzled out as the season has gone on. 32 goals back then and just 1 pen with a good record against the big teams and some great solo goals as I remember, like against Everton. Never scored more than 23 since, so we'll have to see how he does by the end of the season.

Beast of a player

Liverpool must be stressing at what to do……he is entering the age where the drop off can be huge no matter how well he looks after himself

He deserves whatever he wants but they could give him a pay rise and a bigger length contract than most clubs wouldn’t (except united) and he crumbles

Although if the pace and legs go play him as a striker ….he is better than any forward they have

Be an interesting January with that one

I still think VVD is more important overall …bloke is a monster

I don't understand the contract part because we can sell him to Saudi clubs or PSG if he drops off considerably as him name will carry so much weight.

He was unbelievable before his last contract renewal when he was absolutely unplayable. He's adapted his game superbly since so is now a different type of player. Still rapid but was unbelievably fast in his prime. He's passed.

I think Klopp misused him in his final season preferring him to stay out wide to probably impact the no.9 more in this case Nunez but it was detrimental to his game and you could see things weren't right between him and Klopp in the end. I think Slot has rejuvenated him and given him that confidence back and look at what we have on our hands. I got it completely wrong and thought he was finished or coming to an end here in pl and boy am I happy to be wrong.

Hi Don

I would say he was perhaps a more dangerous player with pace a few years ago but his mentality these days is probably the best of any player in world football.

An unbelievable hunger to keep delivering week after week after week that rubs off on other players in the squad- an absolutely outstanding role model to follow.

Yes, this season is the best he has been. There were other season when he was putting up crazy numbers but the criticism was always that he's not a team player, shoots when he should pass and misses a host of chances.

His overall game this season has been outstanding. His creativity and his decision making in terms of when to shoot or make the assist has been world class. It almost feels like he was forced to adapt his game as he lost a bit of pace and whilst doing so it has made him a better player. He's still quick mind.

I get Liverpool fans liking Stevie G, local boy and top player but imo, and obvs mine oy Salah has been a better player results wise and overall player, it's an opinion only but each to their own

He hit this level a couple of seasons ago, year we finished 2nd to city most recently. He was unreal for the 1st half of the season then the levels dipped a bit as the season progressed. Id say hes on a par with that.

If he keeps this up for the season I dont see how we dont win it. Theres enough around him to get the job done.

The 21/22 season I think, he started it on fire and was undoubtedly the best player in the world. Then the AFCON came

This season his performances and output is definitely similar and hopefully he can keep it up for a full season.

He's also putting himself in the conversation for best PL player let alone best Liverpool player in the PL era

I think because of his numbers he's in with a shout but not for me. In terms of ability only one player came close to Gerrard, for me. That was Suarez. However he wasn't at the club anywhere near as long as Salah so you'd probably have to put Salah ahead of him.

Yes when Suarez was at Liverpool he was better as Gerrard was past his best and 34 when Suarez left. I'd say Gerrard at his best was better however.
