I did say his only position for salvation was at left back (I am getting many right these days). Right back is the system for left footers in Amorims formation but I do not think it will suit Antony. Left back where he has 2 jobs, get to the flank and cross it. A poor mans Valencia.
But its just hope tbh. Monumental waste. One of the multiple reasons ETH should be hired again only to get sacked again.

I think that he is even more left footed than Valencia. Which is actually impossible.

Not a chance. The best player for that team we played last night was a player who used to play for Westbrom and Watford. They would struggle to stay up in the PL and as usual we made hard work of it.
Antony is just crap mate. We need to forget it and move on now. He's also not right footed either is so that would be massively unbalanced for us with Amad ahead of him who is also left footed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hadn’t that crap team last lost at home to Barcelona 2 years ago?
I think I’d give Anthony the opportunity, I see the logic as to why this could work out well for him. If it means more time on the bench for Dalot then even better.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who have they played in Europe at home since that game? They can't be that good as we beat them. 😂
Finished third in Czech league last season behind both Prague clubs. That's not a particularly strong league is it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Eintracht Frankfurt (second in the Bundesliga) failed to beat them at home. And they beat Real Sociedad, who have been having another good season (including a win over Barcelona last month). I thought Viktoria were fairly limited yesterday but very well drilled and hard-working. Could see why they have taken a few scalps in Europe lately.

One of the things I find really interesting about the Amorim era is guessing how he'll adapt players' roles. I thought Garnacho (good work rate, decent straight-line speed and carrying the ball into space) might be the one he used as a wing-back. Thought Amad (good at dribbling the ball in tight areas, good vision for passes around the box) would be a 10. I have no reason to believe that Amorim is worse than me at profiling his players. Clearly Amad has taken to the LWB role more effortlessly than Garnacho to the narrow winger, but he's still learning the game, developing as a player, let alone starting to understand the new position in a team that's starting to learn the new formation. One thing Garnacho has that I believe Amorim really wants from at least one of his 10s is the ability to run in behind. While his execution hasn't been fantastic yet, he has made some telling runs which have created chances for himself and others. It might be that this is something Amorim wants to build on in Garnacho, and if that's the case, sticking him at WB if his ceiling is lower in that role probably doesn't make sense. We'll see.
(We'll also see if Amad starts to play more minutes as a 10 when other options at RWB emerge, of course.)

There's plenty of quality and sophisticated coaching throughout the PL these days - right down into the relegation places. Maybe Ipswich were superior, but that doesn't mean Plzen aren't a tricky team to beat at European level and are worthy of sneers.
Garnacho is 20 and I have to believe he is trainable. Every flaw he has seems a product of the team he he has been "formed" in a different footballing mindset. This is the mindset of Ronaldo and Ole, fostered by ETH in his desperate search for goals. The ability to be more tactical with the ball exists in him. He just needs to be retrained...

Retrained... or to develop as a player? Personally, I think it's more the latter. He is doing a lot of the tactical things Amorim wants of him - making good runs off the ball etc. Where he lacks most is composure in timing and execution of shots and final balls, which is totally understandable for a 20 year-old.
Anyway, I've never been astounded by him in terms of his innate ability, but for me that points to a really strong character, determined to succeed and ready to work for it. So I'm pretty optimistic that he'll develop well under Amorim.

Develop... Retrain. He needs to add that decision making. Its going to decide his career. I vaguely remember Ronaldo getting to that moment where he figured out that he didn't need to over rely on his abilities but rather make good footballing choices. I get the feeling Rashford never really had it.
Not even saying Garnacho can get to both at their peaks but I truly believe there is a player but we are getting to the point where he must be put into the right path. Its hard to buy players of his ability let alone one with his work rate. I would love to have one issue solved in that position.
I think Garnacho can be very good. I do get the impression he think he’s better than he currently is though.
Garnacho is very good and if United dont exploit his talent then a Im sure other big clubs would like to.
Hes has stagnated after breaking through into the first team but that is hardly surprising under Ten Hag . So did the rest of them. Hopefully under RA, Garnacho (and the others) can jump start their development programmes

Indeed. They are good for a winger/inside forward. However his finishing and decision making has become frustratingly very hit and miss in the past few months. And some of our fans are getting on his back right now.

Not to sound rude but those stats are the easiest way to misdiagnose a footballers problem. Rashford is one of our highest stats player and yet we all know accept he is a real problem. We need to watch how they play.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair enough but I genuinely thought Ipswich looked a better coached team with more quality.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There's plenty of quality and sophisticated coaching throughout the PL these days - right down into the relegation places.

No, we should be beating them, and we did. We also missed 3 chances you’d expect any player of a PL standard to be finishing.

His goal stats say otherwise.
22/23 5
23/24 10
24/25 8 and we are not half way through the season yet.

Indeed. They are good for a winger/inside forward. However his finishing and decision making has become frustratingly very hit and miss in the past few months. And some of our fans are getting on his back right now.

I agree. His goal scoring stats are good.

I don’t think Garnacho has stagnated but it is debatable that aspects of his game have regressed since he broke into the team.

Not to sound rude but those stats are the easiest way to misdiagnose a footballers problem. Rashford is one of our highest stats player and yet we all know accept he is a real problem. We need to watch how they play.

Other than that 17 game run in Jan-March 2023 his stats have been average to poor for a few years.
