It comes down to a lot of factors, how good the driver is, how good the team in the background is, how good the car is. It can be very controversial though with any bits and pieces on the track and any faulty car parts.

Im never sure how sport is defined

because fishing, coursing, shooting etc are sports, and the sport isnt in the physical effort, its in the hunting aspect.

football, cricket, rugby etc could be argued as being games, but because they use physical effort are considered sports, mano v mano

when it comes to things like snooker darts racing driver they neither have the hunting aspect, or the physical aspect but are competative ...does that necessarily make it a sport - is competative cup stacking a sport?
