That crosses aren’t particularly effective
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Could be. I think we'd need to see the success rate of other attacking plays to provide context. You'd have to think that the vast majority of attacking play fails otherwise every game would have like 20 goals.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kind of. Other open play attempts like through balls, counters etc are way more effective they are just much more infrequently conjured up. The stat doesn’t really say a lot except for crossing is a low % chance.
Which is why all the uproar about people being ‘bad crossers’ is usually off the mark.

Fair, but 'low % chance' is relative. Through balls might be 4%
Though I definitely agree counters must be more likely to result in a goal, by definition you're setting up for an overload in the attacking areas.

I don’t think they are. I don’t really know but players don’t really attempt through balls against a settled defence whereas they do attempt crosses.
It does show that the ‘Kyle Walker’ type crosses are more effective than the ‘Trippier’ type ones which we probably knew.
Exception to that are beckham and TAA who are just incredible crossers
Yeah fair enough. It's all about accuracy.
Biggest game for 606 on tonight
Also nice chance for Jose to protect his unbeaten home record

Yeah its not your record mate
Its the one he started in 2004 and last to 2008
Jose Mourinho's nine-year, 150-game unbeaten home record—stretching all the way back to March 16, 2002—came to an end on April 2, 2011 after Sporting Gijon beat his Real Madrid team 1-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
be interesting to see if he starts the same team and what will happen if/when we go a goal down
He didnt lose a home league game at either Chelsea or Inter
