What do you think we're going to look back on this era of football and think it's actually not that amazing? Could be goalkeepers that can only hoof it.. but I'm going one footed players, especially forwards. Seems to me they should all be pretty well ambidextrous at the top level

I think we'll look back at the lack of individual coaching players receive at the senior level and the subsequent lack of technical development players go through post 18 with real bafflement in about 10 years

football is probably one of the weakest sports in the world for this, the development senior players have compared to the NFL or the NBA is a joke

I'm not an expert on how PL clubs train really but aside from keepers getting a lot of one on one attention, you usually hear about the striker that stays behind taking loads of shots or a Beckham just spending hours doing freekicks like they're the anomaly and doing it on their own

yeah exactly it's all up to the player, like Kane and Ronaldo being freaks who will practice for hours in their own time. that'll all be either by themself or with a private coach like Harry Brooks

look at someone like Dele, was basically the same player from 19-25 despite having clear technical deficiencies in his game (no left foot, no passing range, uncomfortable carrying the ball over long distances). None of those things ever improved at all

and that's not a criticism of Dele - it's true for 90% of players. all the work done on the training pitch is about the collective and the system.

Meanwhile in the NBA you'll have 19 year olds rock up who can't shoot a lick and they end up shooting 40% when they're older

It's tough to be an Ange fanboy at this point. Clearly everything isn't fantastic. I'm not convinced his system is going to win us trophies. Doesn't sound like he is either. But I would agree with his approach, in that if you don't have that identity and buy-in from everyone, it's almost impossible to succeed.

Nothing new there really.

For me clearly done because of the whole complaints with the club not being transparent enough but they obviously have complete control one how it goes and who goes, questions answered etc
