I dunno, they did polls up here and something like 15% of Canadians would have voted for Trump and the general feeling I've got so far this morning is 'How stupid are they down there?', although I live in a multicultural busy city and further out there are pockets of people who share opinions south of the border.

I think our issue is mostly that we'll vote for change too cos everyone is sick of Trudeau and that means we'll end up getting some loser instead but I don't think it'll be anywhere near as impactful as what's going on down there.

I saw a guy in a maga hat in the pub last night. There's definitely an anti immigration, mad about everything vibe growing. Here in BC we're largely shielded from the worst of it, which I'm thankful for, but yeah. Federally and broadly across the provinces it looks to be heading right wing

Right yeah. Just be careful you don't move to Ontario or Alberta or Saskatchewan. Manitoba is awful, don't move there. Quebec is nice but you have to speak French..

Yeah. Most of the Western world seems to be headed that way. Late stage capitalism or whatever you want to call it does not incentivize being nice to people. Most of the Scandinavian countries seem to have a good approach to wealth inequality but it's not easy to go and live there.

I guess it is what it is. Gotta try and make the best of it.
