Big bang has been proven. The radiation from the big bang can still be detected today, and the way in which the galaxies are heading further, and further away from each other.
This could have been the 10th big bang. There was something there before it. Not everything needs to have a start, it's just the way we think, and our concept of time that makes it hard to believe.
My problem with religion (not God, you understand - just the bits with blokes in funny hats telling you what to think) is: dinosaurs. Where do they get a mention??
Also, further to your point G&S - what about if aliens turn up and say they did help with the pyramids n that? That would explode some minds! I mean, God created aliens but forgot to mention tem?
Not really sure our Planet was even made for us as the stories say, what kind of creator would make a planet whereby half of the planet we cant even live on

Evolution has already blown religion out of the water. Even today, animals are adapting, chaning to better suite the surrounding environment
People needed something to believe in back in the day, it kept people in line for fear of god, hell etc. Today, it's redundant.
